To a few wingers at Hillaries...there are a few of you that need reminding that you dont own the ocean. Leave the attitude in your car and just enjoy the sport without being cranky and immature, especially when a kiter decides to enjoy the same area as yourself. If you cant, I suggest you take up another sport. Either way, its doesnt bother me, ill still kite in the same ocean and enjoy it just as everyone else and as we should.

Hi Scotty hope you are enjoying your trip over to WA from QLD to the flat weedy water of Hillaries.

Kiters tend to annoy others when they:
Use the whole beach to set up their lines across the only entrance to the beach.
Demand non-kiters launch or land their kite.
Sail with their kite low to the water using a 30m swath of ocean.
Sail slowly on their twin tip at a different angle to others.
Don't look before jumping.
Jump near others.
Land out of control.
And worst of all wear boardies over their wetsuit.

If you can avoid these and others I have missed you will have a better chance of meeting new friends on your trip. Enjoy.

Just replying to your reply Hilly and thanks for contributing. Unfortunately none of what you mentioned applies to this particular instance at Hillaries, but I understand your point. It feels like the Wingers there have turned into 'territorial sufers'. Its doesnt bother me that these guys want to act like this because at the end of the day, I'll still kite there wether they like it or not. If its too extreme for them, they should be playing golf.

Are you talking Pinnaroo Point or South from there? From what I understand Joondalup City only allows kiteboarding at North Mullaloo and Pinnaroo Point. The area from Marmion Beach to Hillarys Dog Beach is off-limits for launching a kite. You can do a downwinder from further South but there is an exclusion zone around boat harbour.

Haha, first time I hear a teabagger complaing about wingers;-)
There are plenty of spots e.g. the pond where you can tangle your lines around other kiters. Maybe go there to stay with your kite buddys.
However there are plenty of spots north of perth where you can have the beach all for yourself. E.g. Cervantes Area or Dongara. Try this and enjoy.

I can say as a long time 10+ year kiter, even without knowing anyone involved or knowing anything about the situation it is most definitely the Bloody twin tipper at fault. There really is something about the twin tip that makes people act like a dick. Even today I was launching out off woodies for some upwind downwind on the parawing and some numpty on a twin tip jumped right in front of me requiring me to take evasive manoeuvres. Not a good jump either, a long low jump with all downwind and bugger all height. Clearly showing poor edge control and pop.

Never really had any run ins with wingers, it's just not the nature of the sport. My local spot, woodmans point is very popular with twin tippers. I only ride through the area the twin tippers ride in for a brief few minutes as I head upwind but I've had multiple run ins there with twin tippers. It's like they want to show off how they can jump in front of a foiler not realising half the foilers were kiting better than them 10 years ago.

It was the beach south of Pinaroo point. Is this the beach you are referring too?

Kiters are BY FAR the worst water users. I'd rather be in a crowd of 10 wingers than anywhere near a kiter.
