Recently bought and then sold a V2 1099 due to the disappointing low end - thought due to its size it would fill a gap in my quiver between a 960 Spitfire and 1180Spitfire.
Similar lift to a 960 Spitfire which is lifty but not a light wind foil.
Prev had the HPS 1050 which def has better bottom end than the V21099.

The V2 1099 glides well, goes upwind well and is great once up on foil.

Something to be aware of that the tips on the V21099 are really sharp and with the wide 1.1m span I've had many close calls.
1010 Surge will be replacing the V21099 for me.

Has anyone who has owned or ridden the Konrad LX foils moved onto, or at least tried the Surge?
Really curious to hear your thoughts.

Yes. I have the LX970 (although it structurally failed after about 8 months.) and now have the surge 950 and 830.

Surge is better in every way so far in my opinion - more pitch stability through speed range, breaches way better, nicer roll feel, and I can be confident it won't break from pumping around like the LX970 did - Axis build quality is excellent and far far superior to LX in my view.

Actually there is one benefit to the LX - tips are blunt. surge tips are quite sharp.

Does the 950 Surge get up onto foil quicker than the LX970 or similar?

960 Spitfire has loads of lift and is a very cruisy foil that handles disturbed water brilliantly. Consider a bigger stab - 375P and don't try to come up on foil too quickly as it will drop you, build more speed first before trying to get up on foil. Nothing wrong with the spitfires they are a great foil and easy to gybe. If board is rising too quickly and stalling the foil move mast back a bit.

have the PTskin 5.4 and really love how it flies... EXCEPT if you manage to catch a leading edge tip roughly on the surface and force a half liter of water into the tiny last closed cell!

Even with tons of wind in the rest of the wing... i have a hard time getting the water to DRAIN drain from the tiny mesh screen in the bottom the the last closed cell! most seems they should have put that mesh "drain" Material along the bottom of the last TWO cells maybe??

i love the light material of this thing but it's amazing how half a liter of water can make it almost totally "stuck" on whichever side of the wind window that you filled with H2O! ????

I've recently got the 5.4 m PT skin and after a few sessions am noticing some leading edge collapse when the wind picks up and it is well powered up.I have my hand quite far forward on the bar to help depower it , so not sure if this is contributing to the behaviour - anyone else seen this or is there a technique to keeping the canopy stable ?No such behaviour with my 3m PT skin - which is a great to fly when the wind is nuking.

I have had the leading collapsing a bit on the 5.4m when flying it on the beach in strong winds. I haven't really had it when riding though and have had it out in up to about 20knots

The solution to the leading edge collapsing is to maintain a bit more even line pressure. Edge harder to draw the wing forward in the window which will help to depower it. Of course if you're too overpowered to hold the edge you might need to change down.

Your tips were spot on, had a much better session on the 5.4m today. Thanks !!
