A weak trough extends over the Gulf waters. The trough will deepen over the next several days. A tropical low may develop in the Gulf of Carpentaria from Thursday.

A weak trough extends over the northern Coral Sea and the northeast coast. The trough will deepen over the next several days. A high [1020 hPa] maintains a ridge over the remaining north Queensland waters. The ridge is combining with the trough to enhance onshore winds. The ridge and onshore winds will weaken on Wednesday and Thursday as the high moves away. A tropical low is likely to develop within the trough from Thursday.
