Yeah I had concerns about adequate strength in m6 too. But with my mast-plates having 8 x 8mm holes, I used 6 x6mm bolts rather than 4 x8mm. Have hit solid underwater objects and even ripped some inserts out of one board, but the bolts are fine.

6x M6 is a novel solution good thinkin

I'm just grumpy about all the reinventing the wheel in every new sport to suck people in to the spend.

Was in the local shop a week ago to grab some demo gear and noticed a rig with the stab mounted upside down. My bolts. Two from Axis & two from Bunnings hardware.
The T nuts from Axis. As you can see, the left one is how far the bolt goes through the nuts when tightened.
Yes. .50 mm side wall thickness at the narrow part. No screw threads showing through.
I occasionally spray with white lithium grease which explains the white part of the bolts that the nuts don't touch.
They'll last much longer than the three years I've had them.
I have another set that attaches my Neil pryde surf foil that I'll check. But quite sure they go all the way through the nuts as well. Had them for 6 years.

They are a neat and simple solution, but I am wondering how the strength compares to t-nuts.
