I switched from the 2022 95 TE to the 2023 Style 85. I had 120+ sessions on the 95 and am now at ~60 sessions on the 85. Difference is night and day. The 85 is quite a bit narrower, requires much less energy/pumping to get on the foil. The 2023 85 is also more stable in maneuvers (less swing weight I guess). I am 85kg and like to ride my wings on the small side (4m in 20mph) on a 1100sqcm foil. This is my one board quiver - I ride it at my local spot with a 7m wing and rode it for 2 months in Maui in moderate swell with a 3m wing. The 2022 board rode nose down at high speeds and needed shimming of the mast. No issue with the 2023. While narrower, I don't have an issue standing up, the volume distribution is really good, hard to bury the nose. Overall I am blown away by how much progress they made from 2022 to 2023.

Just make sure we are talking about the same model, mine is the sky style TE, 55l.
I might be the one who is wrong, but I am vey surprised by those measurements below 6kg.
I measured mine brand new at 6kg and another one a couple of weeks before and same result.
Both measurements were done with one of those hanging balance scales, 2 different ones.
I'll try to remember and measure again.

Hi, I have just re-weighted my sky style TE 55L, still 6kg with dry footstraps.

I've got a demo 55L which I'm looking to keep and it is 5.3kg slightly moist with no footstraps.

Two footstraps are 290g plus full hardware (4 screws each strap) is 90g

Ok, then it makes sense, I use 3 footstraps.

I got a shop to weigh their 55L (which I noticed felt lighter when I picked it up) and it was 4.6kg strapless. So I do believe there is some significant variation between boards. If you care, best to go to the store and pick the light one. I went with the heavier board that was demo'd to me because that was the good thing to do but I do think it would have been nice. That said my current 90L quattro was the lighter than others' and it has suffered cracks and a soft deck issues.

At -17 for my 72kg, the 55L did ride like a dream in the 15min demo. My axis hps830 crazyshort (non advanced) was right at the back of the box and it felt very nicely balanced and stable without straps. Surprisingly my toeside tacks carried through incredibly well with way more mast height at the end than I'm used to.. maybe this full rocker and concave isn't just marketing hype...

Don't shim it. The newer boards have rocker to raise the nose. Allows you to go fast and not be nose low.

According to Fanatic this board is meant to ride nose high so consider any "advice" unless you really feel something isn't right. Riding nose high allows you recover from errors that would otherwise have you face plant.

I ride this board using multiple systems and it's the case with all of them even-though mast positions differ.

Can anyone measure the foil tracks for me? Looking for:
How long are they?
How far from the back of the tracks to the back of the board?

My Fanatic 95l 2022's tracks are 10 inches long. I've been looking at boards for Armstrong foils and wonder if most relevant measurement is looking where I place my back foot now relative to mast, then looking on alternative board if I placed my back foot in middle of back foot strap position could I place mast in tracks to reproduce relative positioning. Logic is board manufacturer's foot strap positions tell me where they reckon I should stand to get best balance to get up and fly

You are correct!

When I see people standing in the wrong place on my boards, I remind them to look at the strap inserts. They indicate where you should stand based on volume distribution and rocker. Locate mast to work wherever it needs to be when standing where the strap inserts say you should be.

If mast can't be placed to work with you standing on strap inserts, you bought the wrong board for the foil you own.

I think inserts should be where your feet should be placed where you want to take off...so balanced when flat on water...some company screwed that also. Some company rushed big time to put product on the market...or maybe their Quality Control Team is not paid enough.(not talking about fanatic, I've never tried one)

Can i sanity check - is the latest sky wing (that i think was released Aug '22) on a 2 year release cycle or do you expect a refresh in the Aug/Sept time period again later this year?

I've not measured the angles but here is the tail dimensions for 55L. There is nothing flat about the board. Infact when I put my carbon mast on the track area it is not a flat surface and you can rock the mast forward and backward until you tighten the tnuts.

I don't think this type of measurement is very meaningful, or if it is, then maybe only for the AFS boards.

Whether you ride nose up or down is mainly determined by the tail rocker. Any measurement that sets the mast foot to zero degrees, however, ignores the rocker.

That's not necessarily true. The nose up/down is determined by the tail rocker and rake. You can have a very curvy rocker but with a deck that is shaped in such a way that you stand perfectly parallel relative to the fuse. I'm pretty sure appletree and takoon have their boards this way and I wouldn't be surprised if there are a lot more brands.

Yes you're right. Just saying, the measurement in the video doesn't make much sense for me. It just measures if the fuselage is parallel to the mast foot of the foil. It doesn't say anything about the board shape.

Ok so after much research I have come to the following conclusions

I agree with your way of thinking !

I had a comparable issue with my 5.6 TE 2022 together with Sabfoil which as combo did not get on foil as expected.
It is always good to also consider the trial and error way rather than to only follow standard rules.
The story cut short for my case was: I did not want to leave my tail rocker area too much in order to get the lift on the front foot.
Also did not feel any upsides regarding on foil perfomance this way. So I checked where my optimal most forward position was IN MY VIEW and then experimented with strap positions, shims and stabs. Highly interesting outcome. Keep following your way and answer the questions your brain is asking for !

The foil mount track normally is completely flat, so the rake should not change when moving the foil in the track.

^^ Well no as you can shape a board with continuous rocker, then when the boxes are installed the front and rear of them is sanded off before glassing. Longboards (surf) don't have a flat just because 10" of US Box is straight.

However - flat is fast. If you want to fly early - rocker, curvy stuff and bevels in tail is the last thing you want.
