i have the older units - the bags are a pain in the ass - cant throw them over your shoulder/back to walk down the beach and too small to put the pump into easily, when bag is empty (eg if carrying gear down the beach). It owuldnt stop me buying a unit, but i hope at least they have some longer straps/handles to carry them rucksack style.

there is an instagram post out there floating around featuring another wing that has some of the new Units in the new rectangular, box shaped bags. perhaps someone here remembers it and can find it.

in the USA, the first regular Units are scheduled to arrive late February and D/LAB ALUULA versions arriving in March.

Can't wait for my new wings!

Trying to preorder one but I don't know what size to get.

I get that it has a better low end being stiffer so pumping is more efficient.

Does it have a better high end? Stiffer equaling more ability to semi luff the wing in puffs without back winding? I go upwind and have my hands forward on my slick and can have the wing de powered to where it's comfortable and still get great upwind angles. Is this the idea that the stiffer wing can do this better than a floppier one?

Im a bit confused since duotone says to DEFLATE the wing a bit if you're overpowered or for more comfort. Is it really the opposite once you are skilled? I.e you can totally dump a puff in an instant on a stiff wing but if you just hold on the floppier wing will dump a bit for you anyway but a bit more sloppily.

TLDR: Better high and low end than Dacron wings?

You bring up an interesting point - and one which makes me slightly concerned about these wings. How comfortable is it to hold the handle all the way forward (or back for that matter)? I often semi-luff, lightly holding the forwardmost point of the front handle. With a hard handle like this, that might not work very well, or it might be uncomfortable.

I also notice that the leading edge on the Unit is very large. This is a different perspective than the OR Glide, which uses the stiffer material to create a thinner leading edge. Will be interesting to see how these different approaches compare.

No. Stiffer, meaning more draft stability when at the upper range. So it remains balanced front to back hands, so you don't have ride semi luffing. Limitless in a harness, or if you are strong enough to hold the power. Deflate if the power is too much for you, making it behave like a Dacron wing.

actually the UK is pretty terrible for new gear...ive seen pics of the new unit from mainland Europe, and exotic places like Guadelope, New Zealand etc but none here. Same for fanatic team editions (and to a lesser degree the standard versions). Same for wetsuits this winter...until very recently there were no new oneil or ripcurl winter suits

Dunno about the duotone Alula but the O.R. Glide I have with only an Alula boom is very light, including the lighter bladders, narrow alula boom. Had my 5m Glide out yesterday as an experiment, just short of squalling and I could still fly with it. The only annoying thing was the wingspan on a 5M isn't needed in that sort of wind. Range is amazing. Remove the centre strap, move the middle of the outside straps in and it's a pumping machine! And that's only part alula...
