Sure! This is the internet after all so why not?

I have all ezzy's in my quiver and am yet to blow one up after sailing them now for 3 seasons. I have a collection of destroyed other brands in my garage. I would say though that Bertie is bang on the money. Anything new is generally pretty hardy, expose any sail to UV for long enough and it will get weaker and weaker.

Not sure where that is particularly a dig at Ezzy's or not? Have you actually looked up the weights? For example size for size an Ezzy Wave Panther is ligther than Pryde's premium wave sail, the Zone.

..and the Fly

well... skinny boy (aka Dan Barry) seems to be doing ok on those Fly's

Saw a fly completely destroyed at Gnaraloo bay, sail was one day old, wasn't a huge pounding apparently.

I challenge anyone to do the same to an Ezzy...

Well it sounds like a few people in here have bought shares in Ezzy...

But seriously if you put enough heavy X-Ply in any sail it will be bomb proof,but then you lose performance and manouverability because of the weight.

I've been giving my Severne Blades a hiding over the summer and had no problems with them..

I used Sailworks sails before this summer and they are really tuff as nails, don't see many of them get demaged.

Naish seam pretty tuff too..

I used to be a big Simmer and Ezzy fan..... I still am as they are the strongest, period.

However I am surprised how strong a modern mostly mono sail is .... unless crinkled etc. Lets say they are 90% as strong (probably). They may be that little bit weaker but in most cases are more stable / crisp feeling, depower and power up a little more linearly, have a bit more range (no stretchy vinyl window) and have much better visibility for lip smacking.

I still love my Simmer X-Flex's and can't break them after 4 hard seasons.

But now I find myself tending towards mono sails.............maybe they'll last 3 seasons not 4 or 5, but the enjoyment level in that period may be higher

Which are the strongest 3 wave sails?

Well Im a kook. I crash and burn quite a bit in the surf... just ask Rider and Leech
I use Tushingham Rocks. I love these sails and the feel of them when powered up is unreal. Super balanced and super smooth.
A few months ago I started doing forward loops. My Rocks are still in one piece. They still look as new even though they take a flogging.
Thats my opinion

I agree with mark, give me the best performing, lightest feelin
sail I can get. You end up staying out of alot of bad positions
( that would otherwise smash youself and your gear) and you'll
end up having a lot more of an enjoyable sail as well.
I think you'll find most brands are generally durable, ide base
My buying decision on how you want the sail to feel more than
wether or not it's going to handle a smashing at jaws.

not having a go at ezzy, just that strongest or weakest means nothing without considering performance. Lighter is generally better imo but probably means weaker for uv and when taking a pounding.

realistically too, generally the strength comes down to the quality of stitching more than the actual material used. Every sail Ive ever trashed has been on the seams as opposed to the middle of a panel. when it come to a proper drilling, xply will tear just like anything else. Also looking after your sail off the water is a big factor to the longevity of a sail.

When talking about UV exposure, how much exposure is required to weaken sails?

Is it leaving it on the beach in sunlight?

Or is just using your sails during the day (with no time spent lying on the beach) gonna weaken them?

What do you mean? Please elaborate

You don't have to do anything too extreme, just little things like leave your sail in the shade if you have the option, when you sail in your last run give it a quick rinse to get the sand off, don't squash the sails in their bags. Little things like that will greatly increase the lifespan of your sail

Trashed my 5.8 poison on a 3 foot close out at Robe last yearvertically from the foot to above the clew all the way through the outer seams and the same thing happened to my 4.7 grind across the 3rd batten panel andthrough the mast sleeve at our local wave spot the the previous winter- both irrepairable

Love the gaastra Poisons have 3 of them again but wouldn't say they're any stronger than the rest - and I sure as hell won't get more than two good years out of them

i used rocks for years and trashed most of them as well.You get that if you sail heavy beach breaks
I still reckon they are very strong sails but with strength you do loose on performance

I have now been using the o9 goya 3d waves.

The performance difference is massive

They still seem very strong after one of the windiest summers in years,even after a broken mast on a very heavy wave only 8 inches of stitching came undone on the luff.

i take performance over just strength any day.
There's a good chance you will trash a strong sail anyway if you sail hard enough

go performance its a lot more fun and your sailing will go forwards not backwards

Servene on the weekest side the stiching is to a very poor grade maybe the save money on cotton? - always in for repair have to be carefull down halling those puppies or the mast sleeve might just rip off!

If you look after your sail it will last but at the end of the day you should go for what feels good... most of the heavier built sail dont perfrom as well in the light winds dont have that crisp grunty feeling that gets you on the plain earlier!

Didn't know that was the case, nor would I know why.
This years sails (Wave Panther), easily matches or even out-performs any sail I've sailed in the past.

I never comment on sails I've never used, but have used a sh1tload of sails over the years.
I agree that most sails generally are pretty good (strength and performance) these days, otherwise they wouldn't survive in the market.

I mainly used Prydes and Gaastra for many years, with the occasional demo of other brands.
I will always say that Pryde sails will be a top performer. Had Zones and a few NR/Searches for years. Perfect performance, power and stability.
Then Gaastra Manics. Same opinion (after Barry Spanier left, they grew some much needed balls).

Ezzys in the past may have been heavier and/or lacking in performance. Can't say for sure (although Josh Angulo managed a PWA world title on them). Just going by what people are saying.

But the 2009 Panther matches any sail I've had in regards to performance, and they are lighter in weight and feel.
And every review published will back this up. Its not bullsh1t. They are so crisp to sail, and they have the grunt that all of us that don't live in Maui sometimes rely on (and I am light/medium weight and live where average winds are of decent strength).
Got sick of sails with no grunt. Wasn't after the gruntiest sail in the world, but a certain level of power is essential, otherwise you won't get the pleasurable sail that many people here seem to want yet shy away from sails with any testicles which will give them just that.
We can all dream we're on Maui with 25 knots that never has a lull, but we're not.

And Ezzy's are still bomb proof. I'm not after a sail that will last me 4 years, and that will never be a factor.
Performance will be the #1 factor, and the fact that you can be sure the odd tumble in the shorey won't cost you $200 is a bonus.

Panther's tick all the boxes. End of story.

1) Yes its the gayest name for a sail I've ever heard
2) No I don't work for Ezzy, nor do I get any discounts
3) Yes I have had a few scotches but that has not influenced my post although it may have extended it more than what I'd usually bother with.
4) No I don't care if I'm the only Ezzy customer in the world, but seems like people are making decisions on what they hear is cool to use, rather than what they've actually tried.
