mr plod said...Krusty said...I know it doesn't really feel like the season is about to begin as it is still bloody cold, but it is! The first round of this years NSWWA competition begins very soon.
Over the winter the crew from NSWWA have beeen working hard on improving the running of all events and with new a starting systems (Developed and engineered by Dan Berry), a move back towards man on man finals and a heap of other new ideas this years competition format will surely prove to be a winner. Many hours of hard work from the new commitee will undoubtedly see one of the best seasons yet (come on huey!).
In terms of sponsorship a huge thanks has to go out to Neil Pryde who are again sponsoring the entire series. Another big thanks must also go out to Severne/Starboard, Exocet, Wind Surf n Snow and Dirty Dog Eyewear all of these guys have put in some great prizes and offered heaps of support through event sponsorships. There is talk of some great demo gear to be supplied to NSWWA members, will keep you posted.
To combat the problem of no-wind events we will be running a stand up paddle board comp (limited demo boards avaliable), conduct wave sailing coaching seminars, a swap meet at Birubi on Saturday and awesome BBQ's with plenty of Amber Ale.
Membership forms will be sent out early next week, if your not on the nswwa mailing list PM me your details and we will send it to you. Check out the website for more info www.nswwavesailing.org
See you all at Birubi

I think this was the original post??
Ive got a couple of questions about the weekend, maybe someone could help me out? Firstly, I went to a couple of competitions last summer and had a great time ( not nessesarily talking about by competition level) however I started up a health and fitness business at the end of last summer and consequently havent sailed much since then, a couple of times on narabeen lake and botany bay but no actual wavesailing. So my level ( and confidence) is pretty average, if I go to the event and the surf is big or I just dont feel up to it, do I have to technically compete to still do all the other stuff?? and secondly, what is a "swap meet" my wife thinks its some kind of swinging party, can anyone clarify? Sounds good though

thanks guys
Mr Plod,
The amateurs division is there for new guys in wavesailing to be able to compete against people of a similar level so if you have the basics down you will be fine in this division, most of the better sailors from last year will be moving to the pros this year, if they dont then they will be severly flammed!
For anyone that isn't sure they want to compete but would like to enjoy all the other benefits you can get a Social memebership this year for $20 per event which gives you access to some demo gear, food at the bbq's and a place in any of the wavesailing coaching seminars. It doesn't allow you to compete, collect any prizes or get insurance, so you might aswell just go the whole hog and become a full member for just a bit more!
Sam from windsurf 'n' snow will be bring up some Stand up paddle boards which can be demoed and will also bring some new season Neil Pryde gear to conduct a gear over view for the 2008-09 season, I think Dan will also do a run down on the twin fins aswell. So there will be plenty happening even if we dont get 25knots cross off.
As for the swap meet your wife is right, bring her up and I'll take her for a ride can only offer the use of a slightly used tabou in return however? Jokes aside the swap meet will be usefull for everyone to flog of winsurfing stuff they don't use anymore and for people who want to score a bargain to be able to find one.
Anyone who has some gear they are bringing up to sell might want to stick it on here so people know what will be avaliable and come up to get it, I will start with;
Tabou 97lt 3s 2007 - $950
Chinook Alumimium Boom Brand new almost 188cm-250cm - $150
Gaastra Poison 2006 4.2m - $250
Heaps of fins and other stuff cluttering my garage!
