There were definately a lot of upsets that shouldn't have happened, but a lot were because the PWA guys sailed bad heats, whilst the local guys knew the spot very well, and could capitalise. And yeah, Ricardo basically picked bad waves, same thing happenned with Swift.

TBH, I think the problem was that the AWT guys were seeded TOO low. It meant they got put against the best PWA guys and they knocked each other out (e.g. seadi, roediger, fernandez, hauser), whilst the lower level pwa guys were put against each other (e.g. denel, ezzy, jamaer, guillemin) and got easy rides through the first round.
