Went to Inverloch Saturday - Had a ball
Cheese and kisses came with the dog. Forecast 24C Wind 15 kts
Driving down there looked like no wind at all. Arrived, still no wind - bugger. Sat at Bakery and had coffee the went to beach. Saw Croweman and Ejmack on the water and by the time I had set up wind had picked up from below 10 to around 12 - 15 kts. Set up the 8.5 mtr on the 144ltr Mistral but changed down fin size from 50 cm to 40cm. Most of the other windsurfers where digging me about being overpowered as they where on 6 - 7.5 but you only die once!
Tide was in. First run of the day was the fastest but I did not have my GPS on - bugger
Came in and put it on and blasted. GPS readings where low(18 kts) but still had loads of fun. Wind progressively dropped away through the day. Apart from the first run of the day there was one fantastic run where from the beach start at the angling club I hooked in and in the straps and planed non stop to the other side of the Inlet - my guess 800mtr - 1000mtrs. Longest run I hve done on the plane before.
About 10 windsurfers on the water and 2 kite surfers around the angling club. Wife and dog had a ball. What more could a windsurfer want?
Just a little more wind to try out the 104 ltr new board!

Once you get used to it, you will be able to use the 104 in 15 knots. I can use my 105 with a 6.5 sail in about 12 - 15 and get on the plane. (I am pretty light though.)

And like a scene from the 'Karate Kid' - OldSalty introduced me to the ways of the harness. After flying through the air a couple of times like a less than agile shopping trolley and saying ''hello'' to the middle of my sail, I soon picked it up and had a ball for the final hour or so of the day. Nailed a couple of beach starts as well - which meant a double progression and a great day on the water. Are there any friendlier people out there than windsurfers? And the kities were pretty friendly too.

Also brought along my other half and pooch - how thinking of spending a 'long' weekend at Inverloch during the summer.

Glad to here you had a good sail, what 104 board did you end up with?

I sailed at Bonbeach on saturday, the forcast was crap but sailed from about 1pm to 6pm started on the 100 SuperSport with 7 and ended up on wave board with 5.7

Missed out today, pulled the pin about 12 an hour to early went home after a couple of beers then bang 25 knots

Hi Jman - Got home Saturday and had a look at the Bay wind statistics for the day. Looked quite good. Always seems to be the way - better someplace else. Was a fun day regardless!

Curious (and sorry if it's been asked previously), what's the best wind direction for BonBeach and what direction is it sailable on? Cheers!

Bonbeach is best on s-sw or n-nw a westerly is onshore and ugly if it is over about 12knots.

The Joys of Inverloch.....how quickly the worm turns. It was a boiling couldron out there today! OldSalty and EJMack braved the worst of it - hats off to you gents. That's the hat I had on...before it blew away. Worth the trip down to seen some classic stacks - they're imprinted in memory under 'ouch'. Hoped you both survived the rest of the afternoon - looked as though you were just about getting the upper hand by the time I left.

Was an experience! My first time in those wind strengths..... the 5.5m was a tad too big and I had to continuously walk downwind to get back to where I started. Had a nice stack just after you left Croweman! I'm gonna be limping for days to come I think, but your right, was just starting to "get some back" in the afternoon. OldSalty seemed to be handling the new board well, especially considering the conditions and his first outing on it!

I left OldSalty around 4:30pm. He was still in practising his waterstarts, getting them sorted. What time did you end up leaving Doug?

Hey Evan,

Was the wind the right direction for the speed strip with a low tide?

Would of liked to see Doug on his new f2 wizzing down it

It swung more WSW in the afternoon I think but it was also high tide, so the sandbar wasn't exposed. I think, anyone correct me if I'm wrong though, but SW is probabaly the best wind direction for the speed strip. I don't think it got around to that direction...maybe after I left.

Was wanting to see Doug on his F2 at high speed also. I use Doug as a guide to guess at how fast I'm going as he has the GPS

Hey guys - yes the worm certainly turned on Inverloch.
Yesterday you needed a 6.5 mtr to get out then change down to a 4.5 in the middle. Not a good day for me to try out the new board but got footstraps and mast foot tuned and practised the water starts.
The wind was measured at 16 kts gusting to 31. Got a few runs in and just amazed at the acceleration of the F2. One run from standing start to 21 kts in a very short distance. Felt like those cartoon characters taking off at speed where part of the body is stretched out behind.
Got to nail water starts because uphauling on that board is a stinker
HAts off to a handfull of guys who nailed the conditions with the right sail size(4.5) and burned up the water

just out of interest - the number of windsurfers who chat on here is certainly no indicator of the windsurfing fraternity numbers in vic. i got talking to about 15 windsurfers down there this time and only one of them had heard of the seabreeze website.

I'm jealous....very jealous Shackled in irons tomorrow househunting - no point in arguing - I'll lose. I'm going down to Inver on Sunday - and as an optimist, I'll be hoping for some similar conditions.

Have fun. I'll be thinking about you all whilst looking at walk in robes...anybody have any cunning plans?
