Yeah, was a great day once the direction changed a bit more to the south. Lots of guys...and girls out. Think it's the most on the water at inverloch I have seen in the 2 seasons I've been windsuring.

Well I have never seen so many windsurfers down there at one time. Great day was had by all. Lots of smiles. Great to meet some new people. Also good to see more women on the water too. Keep it going girls.
Cobby - when are you getting on the water? Is the water temp at little cold for your pinkies or what?
Jman was slaying it along the sandbar 30kts plus - I think we will need to get KGB down to give him a run for his money.
Ejmack was getting the hang of his new Futura - we need to put a GPS on you as you seemed to be holding speed with Jman a few times.
Rick - meet you a few times around a few different locations but we always seem to be about to hit the water. Be good to have a yak off the water.
Lozza - great that you are getting the back foot in the straps. And no, that huge hole in your sail cannot be fixed by sticky back!!
I thought I was old but that 65 yo gentleman sailing today you are a great excuse for me to tell my wife I still have a few years left in me yet.
Me - well - Whenever you ding your board it is always after a great wipeout that you can tell the story for years. Not this one. Untied the boards on the roof racks and a gust came and lifted one off in the carpark and smashed the nose big time.
Confined me to the small board all day which was good. 5.5 mtr sail was way too overpowered until late in the day when I had stuffed my shoulder and had to pack up for the day. Getting into the front strap on the new board which is great as it is a huge jump for me 144 ltr to 105 ltr. The 144 ltr barge is so forgiving. Anyway all in all a great day and I will be back on Monday

COBBY says "not too cold, too windy for Babs (Big Ass Board) and smallest sail"

Nice review on the days sailing. Not so sure I was anywhere near as quick as Jman, but it's nice having people out to push you that little bit further. Sorry to hear the shoulder was playing up Old Salty. Considering the drop in litre's from the Mistral I reckon your doing very well with the new board.

See you Monday!

More fun and games at Inverloch today - is it normal to feel like you've gone 10 rounds with Evander Holyfield after a day out with Mother Nature? Strongest I've been out in since starting in November - and I REALLY struggled with the combined factors of a 6.4m sail and the alarming feeling of planing in such strong wind for the first time. Didn't quite have the b**ls to go for the footstraps - heart was saying 'yes', brain was saying 'you pussy'. But so what, a timely reminder that watching TV on a Sunday afternoon isn't quite as much fun as being smashed over the bonce by a wayward 170ltr GO after smacking into the water...again. EJMack was like a machine out there today - I think he wanted to pitch his tent and stay for the night...Old Salty gave a masterclass in waterstarting whilst hooked in to the harness - one more move ticked off. Great day out - glad I got in. If you were down there today, peaked at 3pm.

15:00 EDT 19.4°C 17.0°C 86% 19.4°C ENE 50km/h 70km/h 1014.3hPa

Hope Sandy works out next time.

Sorry - I should add that I watched the 10 min front go through at 3pm whilst clinging onto my board - others can take the credit for braving it.

Awesome day guys, bit gusty but not too bad really! You'll probably be feeling worse for wear now Croweman.... I know I am. Gotta watch out for those flying Go's....they pack a punch! My advice, stay underwater (if possible) until your sure all gear has landed

It was sad we did not get to sail the PIT but in hindsight I think we would have all ended up with smashed gear and bodies. Great that THE LOCH turned it on again.
Croweman I am impressed by your progression and willingness to give it a go despite having the wrong equipment for the day. Evan just great to see you handle the conditions with ease - need to get that GPS and see what speeds you are doing.
And me - water starting in the harness yep - next thing will be the harness and foot straps. The F2 SX has amazing accelaration. Need to get the back foot into the straps and 30 kts here I come. I will be staying at Venus Bay next weekend half way between the Pit and the Loch. Choices, choices?? Where to go.

Dont waterstart in the harness - its not the correct technique and will be a cause of frustration and slow progression. If you find it is too windy, start with your back foot in (or close to being in) the footstraps -> this can help avoid catapulting. If its really windy, you can try both feet - but dont try waterstarting in the harness... in all likelyhood, you will end up landing on your sail.

Next weekend its looking like a SW'er.... where you go depends on your need-for-speed...

Mathew, did you end up at Sandy Point or did you stay in Melbourne for the 1 hour? Was the event run?

Old Salty, may have to call you sunday morning for a update on the weather Looking into a GPS at the moment..... I was certain I'd never want one!

Given the forecast for Saturday, I was wondering what the view is for Inverloch. I've only got a 6.4m sail at the moment - although I'm thinking of a cunning plan to try and sneak a new 5.4m one into the house. Any tips on how to camouflage a new dayglo sail bag would be gratefully received. At 92 kg, I can hold the 6.4m sail down in a pretty strong wind, but I got smashed about a bit last weekend at Inverloch (ok, a lot - including cracked baton in the leech) - and figure I want to try and progress a little this weekend.

I know what you really wanna hear Croweman, so I'll just say it.... HTFU!!!

Saturday doesn't look to be so strong now (going by the Elders site). 6.4m seems about right.

A solid dose of reality - I'll send you the dental bills...if anybody else is down there tomorrow - Grey CR-V, barge sized board and sail with multiple fist/face prints in it from last weekend.

Hey Lucky me. I am staying at Venus Bay so I will be there all weekend. Wind direction may require us to sail in a sightly different location to the Angling club though

Not me, no experience in waves but love to try one day. That is when I first got hooked on windsurfing when I saw a guy hiking along between a set of waves at Robe SA.
Nah for me it will be get up in the morning and decide to turn right to Sandy Point or Left to Inverloch

Sunday looks good though. Unless I'm reading the wrong forecast it's looking to be a WSW and then SW 15-20kts. BOM bass straight forecast is all over the place however. Make up my mind Saturday night I guess.
