Sunday 's forecast looks good with a NNE wind at 15-25k.Anyone going to Marion's Bay for a sail on this wind? We're pretty keen to get a session in some flat water.
Good turnout at the learn to windsurf fun day, with what looked a nice wind for all. Nice to meet Ant and Co. for a chat on local spots. Nice Pics of the action too.
Thanks to Rod(Iceman) for the hospitality at St. Helens. Hope you get to try out your new spot soon. Really nice area up there! ![]()

Great to see you guys today, Marion is looking good with strong North East I'm sure you'll have a few locals to sail with, it's a pristine spot.
I'm trying my luck at Goats if there's enough swell
Going to try my luck regardless of tide. Should be something worth sailing either side of low tide, probably after. Hoping it picks up enough.
Weather will be superb at Marion and you'll get a sail, will just have to walk out a fair bit to get into some water.
Nice looking day out there. Don't mind a walk to the water either. Had some practise at Stanley walking out at low tide. I'll get more practise today
Have fun at Goat s Ant. Hope to see a few guys at Marion's today. Cheers!
the current report for marion bay. good solid 20 + knots. should be a blast i hope some more people come down here
Hope you had a good day Gabe and Chris. I went out from the scout hut and had a blast in 20 knot northerlies. Low tide and the AHD was humming. Don't you just love summer. I think I may just have a couple of rums to celebrate tonight.
I will be there ripping. Foot fixed. Watch it buzzy!! I'm back. And veitz you soft ..ck.![]()
Where were u invisible flourencent ?
Hi Iceman, yes it was a nice change. We had a nice day on water today with sunny skies and a nice breeze. NE at about 20-25k. Water was warm, but tide was against us, so not much flat water. Good to meet up with another Rob. Bummer about the boom, but you look like you were having a ball anyway. Here's a couple of pics on the day.![]()
Great to see you guys finally getting in some sailing whilst in Tassie guys.
Hopefully you get a crazy awesome session or two at Stanley before you leave!
Yeah JohnnyHuett, thanks. Were on it. It's been good to get back on water in such nice sunny conditions. It's just that elusive tide and flat water combo missing at present. Some interesting locations around here. It'd be fun checking them all out if you had the time. Lucky buggers!
Been watching the forecasts and we'll be back up at Stanley for the next blow for sure. We're here for another couple of days, then heading up to Stanley and meet back up with Pete Braun, another Marauder. Happy sailing!!![]()
It was very nice meeting you guys also. nice to see the pics too, much appreciated. Damo was rubbing his hands together when he heard about the broken boom. it would've been lonely down there hadn't you guys showed up. Rob
Johnny we know you are a wa.ka but we must commend your effort with the Spotguide............caught up with Chris and Gabe yesterday, started trying to explain where to launch at Marion and they said............don't worry we've been following Johnny's guide..........pretty cool mate.![]()
Marauders glad you got a good sail to today, pity about Rob's boom ![]()

We had a good session at Goats 12 guys out waves great wind fickle
Hmmmm didn't look that great when I was there or did the wind go back to a bit more east? Lauderdale was very northerly & on the light side.
Sounds like Marion was the place to be yesterday.![]()
It's a bit hit and miss around here ,it seems, as (I guess it is back home) So much choice !!
Absolutely love the bays and vistas everywhere. You guys are so fortunate. Windsurf heaven!
Marion's Bay was a very beautiful spot to sail regardless of speed potential. Just needed that right tide to make for an easier launch. We'll try our luck next visit hopefully. Cheers everyone.
What time did the wind come in at Goats and how strong? Where Steve and I sailed it was strongest between about 4:15 and 5:30pm. Quite gusty though and blowing maybe 15-18 knots at best. Directly upwind from where we sailed was Goats (on the other side of Bruny Island). We effectively sailed upwind a bit, but I think the wind would have been funnelling a bit stronger further below us as the channel narrows off Gordon.
Dave we were on the water roughly between 4.00 - 6.45pm that's pretty normal for Goats. Wind is usually gusty cross off, dogging out 30-50m then planning out the back, we all had a good session......................... except maybe Russ who maybe expected consistent 25kts for his small sail and full on high wind wave board to carry 95kg......................Russ please come back with BIG gear you'll have ball.........or two ![]()

ah so it was crap![]()
NO
It my not have been Ideal, but when the swell and the wind got together it was AWSOME.
this just didn't happen as often as liked
OK, so not as windy as it often gets at Goats. Suggests, possibly, that Middleton can also get a bit windier when it does happen at Goats!! If it had been a cranking 25-30 knots at Goats on Sunday, then might have given Middleton a miss in future, but by the sounds of it might be worth giving it another go!!
Hey Dave, the Dennes point obs only gave it about 12-15 on Sunday(I think) when Goats is on it can be around 27-32 (there abouts). Middleton sounds like it will definitely be worth a go when Goats is doing its thing. However, Goats wind can be very localised.
