Hello All sailboarders

The W.T Northern Season Starter is scheduled for this weekend, but as very little wind is forecast, we will postpone until the 29th of October in the hope that some wind will appear.

The starter will begin with an afternoon sail at Lagoon Bay or Bell Bouy ( depending on your sailing preference. )
This will be followed by Pizza's at 260 Low Head Road.

I will prepare bases for all, BYO your toppings, ( Also bring any sailboarding movies you may have tucked away and require a viewing )

Pizza’s from 5:00pm. Please RSVP here or text on RSVP on 0488 586 076 ( So I can estimate the number of bases to prepare. )

Maria island is a pretty cool spot for a sail but I have heard that there are a few sharks which is possibly why Alan spent most of his time in the air.

Now there is the downwind jump that one of the southern Loop instructors was telling his student about last week at Carlton.

Wind is a fickle thing.
None on Saturday but something like this image Sunday night.





No point in a season opening if we can't sail so the Northern Season Starter is postponed once again.

Who will we sacrifice - that is THE question -

If we sacrifice the 'obvious' - Houston - Huey may well just take that as an affront, like giving someone your garbage as a gift, and that might just make things worse.

We need someone who is at least vaguely useful / valuable - volunteers?

I'm trying not to jinx this, but there are brown arrows and sunshine on Saturday. I don't need much notice but if you are vaguely thinking of turning up post a yes on this thread by the end of Friday and a quantity of hand made pizza dough will await you Saturday night. There is also space for tents in the back yard for anyone planing to consume a quantity of alcohol and any long distance travellers.

Looks like this weekend is a goer. Gill, mark me down for pizza. just a warning though, I can eat a lot of pizza!!!

Sunday looks good for bellboy? .Is it too SW Saturday for baker?

Sunday and especially Monday (public holiday up here ) look great up north. Saturday maybe a bit too much SW, although the SW forecast, usually ends up as W wind at Bell Buoy, .

Bakers is great from NW to W at the point. W is cross-off, so a bit gusty, but if swell is up it is great down the line riding.
Never tried to sail it further up the beach, but waves seem to get bigger and closeout more. It could be a better orientation for the SW wind.
Anyhow, it needs a good swell to get decent size waves, and waves tend to be bigger with a hint of NW wind (waves usually half the size of Bell Buoy, but more punchy and organized). Usually around 5 knots less wind then Bell Buoy, but more powerful waves make up for it.

As conditions are still looking good this weekend should we hold two competitions ?
The King of the Tamar on Saturday and an Expression session at Bellboy or East on Sunday ?
Low tide is about 12, so we could make a midday beach decision on both days as to the days format.
This is if the wind gurus think it is the go and the weather is changeable so watch this thread.

Hey Ben, I was google earthing 83 Rosevears drive for a new project today when I spotted some recognisable vehicles on the side of the road followed by some recognisable sailors on the water. The satellite was watching you!

The wish for wind has come true and no sacrifices necessary. It's blowing 34 knots for most of the day Saturday and still 25 knots Sunday..... Now for pizza numbers if you have a vague desire to eat pizza Saturday night let me know by phone or here. If you don't turn up I'm sure it won't go to waste as some hungry sailors are already booked in, but some idea on numbers today would be good as the little dough babies need some time to grow Saturday while we are busy on the water.

Just in case anyone is interested in a wave sail - East Beach - now - 3.7m

Bellbuoy is chaotic.

Just arrived. I'll be sailing east in a bit, but just looked at lagoon which is surprisingly flat and inviting the flat water sailors will have a hoot so may follow east with a sail at lagoon

Update on where sailing is happening. East beach being sailed now. Lagoon sailors arriving about 2:30 King of the Tamar run today based on GPS results . Gill

A few photos from East and Lagoon Today. Earlier on it was 35 to 45 knots but it settled to a gentle 32 to 38 knots.

Hey...I took some pretty snappy snaps of you and Al when you weren't watching I thought. One with you both in the same shot, both on 3.7m sails.
Can we see those too, pleeeease?

I left East with Gil and Al on their 3.7m sails and looked at Lagoon on the way out just as the guys (photos) were hitting the water with their 5+ m sails - I thought that there was going to be tears but Ben is grinning from ear to ear.

QUITE a day. Fingers crossed for the same tomorrow (- 10 knots and + 10 degrees).

Great back loop ,nice and high,and landed ,wicked

Bellboy was surprisingly clean and usable (side shore westerly)at low tide when I hit the water but with in 1/2 hour it built from 30/37 knots to 37/45 on the Lowhead readings and I was blown of the water on my smallest gear 76l board and 4,2m had to shelter in the safety of the tree tunnel that leads to the beach after been blow over carrying gear . Should have sailed east beach an hour later when it eased back abit

The wind is super consistent up there no lulls to hide bad technique or rest while sailing like a mega strong seabreeze with the blue sky the whole time it reminded me of Geraldton on the rare 40knot seabreeze , think I am to old for that wind strength not interested in going to pozo any more
