How about something like this guys:
accounts.google.com/ServiceLogin?service=blogger&hl=en-GB&passive=true&continue=https://draft.blogger.com/blogin.g?blogspotURL%3Dhttp://wtspotguide.blogspot.com/2012/06/port-sorell-sandbar.html%26zx%3D1fgnyyobybb00

But then, I can do up ONE full page that lists all records if you like?
I'll need the data collated by someone though.

Open to other suggestions naturally...

I've whipped this up quickly. Again, need feedback, ideas, thoughts posted here, and agreed to, and I can make the changes/additions.

Check out: accounts.google.com/ServiceLogin?service=blogger&hl=en-GB&passive=true&continue=https://www.blogger.com/blogin.g?blogspotURL%3Dhttp://wtspotguide.blogspot.com/2012/07/speed-records.html%26zx%3Du6bbgplu2wi6
AND
wtspotguide.blogspot.com.au/2012/06/port-sorell-sandbar.html
Manually added at the moment, until I can dynamically link it, so it's updated automagically.

Also, someone needs to give me the 5x10's to add in if you want them there guys?

I'm thinking about moving outside my 'sandbox' now and creating a proper site. I am also aware that I'm the only one with access to edit this stuff, which isn't very good redundancy, so I'll get that changed as well.
Anyway, see what you think.
Johnny.

That is great Johnny. Love the GPS speed record being recorded on the spot location page - that is awesome. Having the ranking page is really good too and could probably just do with some further development. There is so much GPS information that can be captured and so many ways to do it, so it's likely to be a progression of ideas.

It would be good to somehow have the information update automatically out of the GPS TC site? We can select Tasmania and get all results by year or overall (ie since the comp began), so the information is there, we just need to know how to access it and have it update. If people post data via KA72, then their sailing location is posted and can be captured, but not everyone does, for various valid reasons.

Be good to add 5x10 results by spot, but we might need to do this manually (ie individuals post you their sessions) until we automate it?

For now, keep up the great work!!

Yep, I think your ready to leave the sandbox, but leave the bucket and spade there for me

I like it, Low head with pictures and streetview is great. Having the 2 second speeds is a good bonus.

My thoughts are we keep the Spot Guide separate from the GPSChallenge, looks to me like it's losing it's simplicity.

The original idea of the spot guide is to show Tassie, mainland and international sailors where to go to get the sailing the individual is after and get guys to explore more of the state.

Also think it's a great idea of Dave's to increase the interest and competition of the GPS Challenge by documenting the records (2sec, 10sec, NM, etc,) but I think it should be separate to the Spot Guide. If we bulit a separate "blog", if that's what you do, we could update it as records are broken.

Both these sites can be linked to the WT and Seabreeze websites

Just my thoughts

I think its good to see what the spot record is for each location. Stating the record at XXknots is sort of like saying that the waves are XXhigh at this location. Gives the traveller more insight into what they can expect at the spot.

Hi guys,

Things have moved on, I've had to leave the sandbox for Ben to play in, he was throwing sand everywhere...

So for now, hit up users.on.net/~jhuett/WT/
This is still a work in progress.

I will provide links to the relevant files, and how to guides to add the maps to your My Map's for your phones etc later - or upon request if you want.

As always, email me and photo's or spot info you can provide to enhance the pages. Especially photo's that show different angles, aspects, features or action (of any description)

Modified the pull down menus that load the guides. I think they look heaps better, and they load the spot guides beside the menu, not in a new window.

Update:

Still got this flu.
I've been spending a lot of time researching some ideas that were tossed around in the car park last sunday over a quiet pilsner ;-)

The 'key' discipline's can now be selected to only show that discipline on the map. See what you guys think, and try and break it for me.

EDIT: Forgot to mention, out of interest - the spot guides are getting some great page views. This month the geographical hits to the guides were from:
Australia 342
United States 28
Russia 27
France 16
Denmark 5
New Zealand 5
Germany 3

As usual, hit me with any ideas guys.
Cheers

Johny has done an awesome job putting this together.
There are a few inaccuracies in some of the pages, might need someone to do some proof reading.

Haven't read this forum yet. Also I have made a google map for Red Bull for Marrawah - with a few spots extra to what is known. Plus ramp access. At the end I will get that made public.

Sounds good Pottsy - would be great to get YOUR info. :-)

The wayback machine (web archive) is what I have used to gain access to your old site, but we haven't used any of the content yet, which I have also made my 'own' site copy from their archives, so I have as much as they have.

Appreciate anything you can give me, and thanks for the kind words guys.
It's been a great way to get to know a few of you too, plus learn a lot about the sites.
I'm playing around with the way it 'looks' now - so I'll have something soon I hope.

Please proof things guys, typo's, spelling mistakes, grammar, alignment, I'll take what ever you can find.
Cheers.

Just updated all maps with latest tracks. www.users.on.net/~jhuett/WT/

Spot links to the maps from the spot guides are broken for now, whilst I rebuild the pages on my own site. Everything still works, just not the hyper-links. The pages and maps still exist.

Remember the GoogleMaps are interactive and spots can be clicked on to take you to the spot guide.

Still lots of spots that I don't have info on too guys...even if you know a little bit, and/or have pictures, email them through. johnhuett@gmail.com

When the spot guide pages were viewed over 2000 times by unique visitors, I decided to make the jump into something more permanent. And things were getting messy and hard to manage, so the decision to create a site became easier.
So www.thespotguide.com.au is live.

I was going to wait until I'd migrated all info to the new pages, but it's taking longer than I thought - I've only done the first few in 'Northern Spots'.
Everything works, just still pointing at the old pages (in the sandbox) - until I can move everything over.

This is community driven and its for everyone to get local knowledge and feel more confident sailing our great Spots.

Remember: This site is only as good as YOUR information - you all have local knowledge - share it! email admin@thespotguide.com.au with your ideas, corrections, info or pictures (I can't stress enough how important pictures are to make the guides more engaging, so please send them through)

Thanks,
Johnny

If you expand 'northern spots' the first 4 or 5 spots are now the new format.
Finished port sorell Sandbar today.

Hope you all like it :-)

i dont know that we should be putting places thunder reef on a sailing guide, unless you are going to put a disclaimer on it like:

note this has never actually been sailed so if you do choose to sail it and survive, please send in a report...

We should have got Grevill to sign a disclaimer before he went out at BOL
