Looks like it may be quite southerly, which should make it more consistent and better in general. I reckon Mortimer at 5AM, on the water by 5:30!!

Go for broke and try to win!!!

OK, looks like it should be reasonably wind all day. Could be a good day for setting the distance record for the year (currently standing at 323 km)!! Be good to see what the day brings for everyone!!

This is where I'll be going at about midday, turn right 4.5kms past the Stanley turn off on the Smithton Rd.
Could be ok for a nm or a 1 hr so thats what i'll try for. The yellow line on the pic is 1 NM the other line is the forecast wind direction. 22-30 kts

Good luck for today crew. I wont be able to get out today, family stuff I cannot get of. Bad luck Fos you might have to walk in there. With all that rain you might even need a four wheel drive. Its 8.30am and I am looking out from home at Mortimer with binoculars and cannot see anyone sailing, doesnt look like much wind out there at the moment.

Izaak, how did you go today, did you get the wind you were after? We got a lucky break down here at Mortimer, consistent 20-25knots

Fos, why haven't you posted on gpschallenge, you hit the 20 knot mark and a PB, don't tell me you stuffed it up and have joined the gpschallenged club with me and Russ, shame

When I went to show your ailing eyes how easy it is to see what is on the screen
It started a new file and the old one is gone.

I blame you, it was ant related.

Try 'save to card' look for the fille that was generated when you do this (on the SD card) and then delete all of the tracks up to the point that you started sailing yesterday (you'll need realspeed or some other GPS software to delete the previous tracks though)! Goodluck. I'm surprised it didn't save your tracks to the SD card in the first instance, you should still have it, have you checked all the files on your SD card to be sure (to be sure)!!

Yep I checked them all,

I chcek the last modded date of all files on the card, using the SD card reader, and the only one there was so small, it had a top speed of .6 kts.

I was a little concerned/frustrated/enraged and check another 4 times to find a file that had the Mortimer's stuff on it... but alas nothing.

I'll have to knock Jez off next time, Oh well December is another month.
AND DON"T GO NEAR ANT WITH ANYTHING ELECTRONIC !!!!

What about 'save to card' option that will upload all the internal memory onto the SD card? That should still have it!

There is already a file that is post getting off the water.
For some reason it wrote over the file.

The exact series of things that I did are...
Get off the water and pack up,
Turn off GPS and place in pocket for upload when I get home.
start talking to ANT
Turn on GPS to show large display
Turn off GPS and go home

Get home and remove Card and place in reader,
Find the only file

Hence it's all Ants fault, and not something I did.

but I'll try that when I get home Dave
