Gday, today(sat) looks pretty average but tomorrow is forecast 25-35 SW easing during the day.
So if the winds in early we need to be out at 5am.
We need distance for the month, currently in 12th with 61.64km. first place is 182.94. If the winds round till 12 or later and we get out early we should have 200 before lunch!
We also need to improve NM above 25.64 and get a higher 1 hour than the current 19.06.

Whos up for the challenge, if the wind is actually there that is.
I'm thinking either Dorans or Mortimer depending on the amount of South in it.
Anyone else have any opinions.

Hopefully our Northen team mates get some wind aswell!

25-35 SW sounds optimistic to me (going off forecast map) but would be happy to be wrong.
If the clouds stay away is there a chance of an easterly seasbreeze today?
Buzzy- good idea to co-ordinate efforts to increase the team ranking, maybe we need a team CAPTAIN?

Thinking about having a go out off West inlet Stanley around lunch time Sun, Havent tried there before but maybe a run towards Smithton along the beach should be flat in SW. Offshore is always a worry but I think if something breaks you should end up ashore over the NW side of Greenhills

We would need a big effort and penty of luck to win back to back Spring cups
The NM, hour and distance usually kills us.
Easty, Dave is our team captain for the gpstc.

Yes, very optimistic. I'm doing what I dont normally do and go of the South East Coast forecast. I agree the map doesn't look that good, but you never know, I've had a lot of sails this year when the forecast has looked absolutly rubbish and then we get a good 18 knots.

Easty you know we have a team captain his name is Dave, remember, the one that had to accept you onto the team. I'm just jumping the gun cause lifes short and I want to go sailing, now, not next week, not later in the year, now! Or tomorrow will do. Although, tomorrow never comes.

Shhh! on the seabreeze for today thingy, you'll scare it away!

I reckon I'll be up for it. The way the forecast is at the moment, probably better at Mortimer. Have never really had the wind consistent there though (enough to do a one hour), unless quite southerly.

Excellent to target and discuss ahead of time the disciplines we need to do to win for the month, that's the only way to do it!!

Be difficult to win as Mandurah Mob have done really well across the board, but we could move up to second reasonbly easy, as we're winning two divisions.

Distance: If we sail over 105 km we will move up 9 points (easy points), by going to 182 km, we'll gain another 2, but unless we go storng in NM and 1hr, not enought to win.

NM: top NM is 33 at present and I reckon we'll be pushing it to get above 29 knots. With 29, we'll move up 4 points (4 from the top), if we can get over 30, we'll gain a further 2 points

1 hour: by improving our 1 hour from 19 to 21 knots, we'll move up 4 points, but the next stp is above 23, which will be difficult and the top is almost 26!!

By sailing 105 km, doing a 29 NM and a 21 knot 1 hour, we'll move into second place very comfortably, with many points to spare (we'll go from 34 to 17). First place (Mandurah Mob) are on 11 points and our moving up the ladder won't affect them as they'll still be ahead of us in all three of the above disciplines, however, we'll be about 7 points ahead of third place which is a comfortable lead.

Going the extra 100 km's, unfortunately won't get us to first place unles we also get a PB 1hr and PB NM.

This year has been a difficult one for the Tassie Speed Seekers, with not much wind for many, many months!! It would be great to target next year with the aim of winning, starting January!! We can do it, but requires very strategic sailing and some luck with the wind!!

Be nice to win this month as it is a cup month and we did win it this time last year, but the Mandurah Mob have done really well (too well I think to get beaten).

Sorry, didn't realise. Dave did mention last week about making a concerted effort for the outright cup next year, co-ordinating efforts etc. Should be fun.

Cheers Izaak, I'll ring Dave tonight after I've checked the forecast.
Hope you guys get a good sail. Can you ask Jordan to rig small and not get any PB's. He's my next target on the state ranking only 1 point away[}:)]

Awesome Dave that puts it in more perspective. I knew you were lurking in the background, reading and filtering the endless dribble. Can you give us some numbers on the NM and 1 hr with 200km to put us in first, please.
And don't say 35NM and 27 1hr

Ok I think I ve got it 105 km + 29 NM + 21 HR = 17 points

so 185km + 30NM + 21HR = 13 points

question how many more points if we take the HR to 23 or 24?

we could be first if you manage those targets with a 22 1HR remember they drop back a point if you beat them in a category.

I reckon at best we could push in to second with the 1 hr (need 23.5+), this would gain us 1 point and another for pushing MM back one place (so effectively 2 points).

If we win distance we gain another 2, plus pushing MM back 1, so effectively 3 points here!

If we can do a 30.08+ NM, then we gain 3 points, but MM still in the lead on 33+ (too ambitious to get that unless at Henty).

So, a 23.5+ 1hr, 30.08+ NM and 183+ km's will drop us 6 actual points to 11 and MM will gain 2 points and go up to 13, so we would be in the lead!!

If we can bump our alpha up, even better!!

All possible, but if we don't beat MM in either 1 hr or distance, then it'll be two points effectively and it will be a draw, both of us on 12!!

Buzzy, are you up for three PB's tomorrow (1hr, distance and NM)!!

I think we'd need to know we have a (very) good NM and 1 hr in before we targeted 183 for distance!

I recon the 30.08 NM is possible, distance for sure but the HR might push things a bit. If the winds up to 20-25 anythings possible.

Looks like it may be quite southerly, which should make it more consistent and better in general. I reckon Mortimer at 5AM, on the water by 5:30!!

Go for broke and try to win!!!

really odd here,

it looks like a seabreeze from rekeby, but at home it's 5kts northerly

Oh well I'll head down and annoy Buzzy in a minute, and maybe an 8-9 am start in the morning, Mortimers if the winds right.

I wonder if the transit will take that road?

We sail from the south end predominantly
