Has anyone seen 2019 ncx or gators, can't tell from the severne site if anything has really changed from 18, ncx does seem to look fuller sail though from rigged profile photo

I see that the 2019 ncx in 8.0 now need a 460 mast last year it was a 490 mast....

The outhaul pulley is removable so u can relocate to either hole. Pretty cool idea and the batten key is longer so u can get to foot batten tensioner easier.
7 battens but suprised to see the the boom length is shorter (200cm) than the m1.
I overlayed it over the m1 and it's cut the same but noticed the luff is narrower ?

It would be cool if you could buy extra pulleys and just have them in place ie 1 in each position. Less faffing around. NP have both for ease of rigging etc

What would be better is having them permanently attached not held on with a bolt. At some point it's bound to come loose and fall off while sailing

I use a Chinook pulley in my sails and have lost one in my kit box!!! They are pretty good with nylok nuts and when you rig its obvious if they are loose. The Severne ones look good too, slimmer than Chinook. My NP Convert sail has permanent ones similar the the Severne pulleys.

Looks like a copy of the S2 Maui system and their boom looks like a copy of the North...
Do they do any design themselves?

I picked up a Mach 2 9.4 and an M2 overdrive 7.8 today. The overdrive is very similar to the last 3 which is fine that's all I wanted. Its still very light and easy to rig and unrig.

The Mach 2 9.4 however, Wow I like what I'm seeing so far. I don't know the exact weight but it's bloody light. Very bloody light. Only 7 battens which is great for what I need but if I was a bigger stronger bloke doing a lot of slalom personally I would wan't an 8 or 9 batten skeleton. the twist is not as clean as previous sails but considering how light it is it's a trade off I'm more than willing to make.

Someone mentioned the clew pulleys. They are slightly smaller than the old ones and the 5 mm prestretched rope standard in the severne booms I have is too tight and doesn't work. I switch to some 4mm spectra which works well.

At first I thought the sails didn't come with a batten tensioner. They do, it's just in a different spot. I'm not telling where, I had to find it so you do too.

The 9.4 is so light I'm considering trying it for foiling with my old JP SLW 90. I have a Moses 101cm carbon foil which is quite big and powerful so I'm tempted to give the 9.4 a run in 5 or 6 knots and see if I can get going. Even if the 9.4 is too big I think the 8.6 and 7.8 would be deadly for foiling.

I'm hoping to give the 7.8 a run tomorrow either on the foil or Fox.

Anywhere that can keep carpet flat on the ground is not windy enough for sail testing

7 battens for race sails when the wind gets strong - rig half a metre or so smaller than normal.

The big plus is the lighter weight at a likely trade off for stability. I notice the weight mostly on gybes,lighter being a lot better!

More battens helps to stabilise the leech too.

Far from convinced 7 battens for race sails is the future.

The Mach1 7.0m already feels very light to me with 8 battens.

It's still Xply just in a sexy red. I gotta admit it looks pretty cool.

If you look at the join between the luff panels on the overdrive you can see it's a little bit rough. There's no cam there so it's not a question of spacers.

you need some more batten tension on that one anyway looking at the wrinkles coming down from it,actually looking again the batten above and below could do with a bit more

whats the bit of red string at the top of the M2

Received my new MACH 2's this week (5.5, 6.2, 7.9, 7.8 and 8.6m). Have only rigged the 6.2, but looks great! Plenty of tension with a nice progressive twist - can't wait to use it and the others!

Will formula line be thin enough to work on the clew pulleys?

I'm using Formuline and it's fine, no different to the fit on previous Severne sails.
