Hey cheers for the feedbacks guys sounds pretty promising!

So how do they go Paul? The marketing blurb says that the draft is not as deep as the previous model, but also claims that the low wind performance has been improved which sounds a bit odd. I've got last year's 5.5 and run it really fat with min 1 or 2 when the wind is light and I need tractor mode.

does anyone have a picture of a 4.0 or smaller? I am curious how that extended clew looks like. I can't stand the look of the Cross' clew, so might look for 22 Waves instead.

Not sure if I like it but it does seem to work. Used it in 34knts in rough Dutch coastal conditions. Especially in the jumps more stable.
Last weekend I took my 4,2 for a spin. Whereas my friends sailed with 4,8/5.0, quite similar body weight as me, I didn't had any trouble with the 4,2 in the same conditions.

The sail feels lighter, more neutral and a better on/off feeling, which made me the reason to switch to the '23. It still is my first impression, waiting for better and decent testing conditions here. But the changes are definitely visible to the previous model when you rigg the '23 sails.

thanks for the picture. That sail looks great and I like the idea of having a minimum boom-length of 1.50m. I only miss the blue and yellow from the 22 Waves, but I like the plain white ones. Did you get yours from Jeroen? Looking forward to see one in person.

True, but Maurits writes a persuasive review! The comments about the new generation feeling lighter and more neutral with a smoother on off were enough to persuade me to get a 5.8 from Mark yesterday. Looks like wind over the weekend so maybe I'll scoop you on the local review! Maybe Sunday will need a big sail...

Well got a chance to sail the 4.7 a couple of days ago... was pretty short lived as I made a silly error dropping into a wave, got worked in the white water, mast smacked me in the head & I've ended up with with a ruptured eardrum. But the 45 min before that were great!

It sounds cliched but they are improved! First thing I noticed was how balanced it felt. The last versions were really good in this regard however I felt like the newer ones stepped it up a notch. They definitely handle over powered conditions better. The double effect of rock solid balance and handling high winds makes the whole experience pretty pleasant.

Sail felt light in the hands and certainly is world's apart from Ezzy's 10, 20 years ago.

If anyone gets the chance to try one I think you'd be pleasantly surprised. Stoked with them.

Shame to hear about your sailing injury Paul. Hopefully it doesn't keep you off the water for too long. I also had a crack on the new 5.8 Ezzy Wave yesterday at Margs. It was a typical light, gusty day that we've had a lot recently. Lots of glassy holes interspersed with more promising gusts. Normally I'd be using a 5.5 Ezzy wave because my bigger option (Goya Fringe 5.7) gets a bit heavy and unruly in the windier bits, so I only use it when it's really light. So it was a great day to test the new 5.8 because it would have to handle a range of wind strengths with either super clean or slightly choppy waves a a result. I rigged it a medium setting which doesn't give much draft, so I know that there's heaps more torque on offer should I need it. The sail was excellent: really stable in the gusts and surprisingly light on the wave. It felt like a smaller sail than the Goya, even though the boom is longer. I guess that's down to the neutral feel and stability. Even in light winds stability is important because there'll always be gusts that can distort the sail. It pumped onto the plane really easily, went up wind well and was fun to blast around with too. Bottom turns were easy-no problems pivoting round the clew to drive back up the wave and reos felt very controlled. A great sail-should have got one years ago!

I want to add, have used the 4.7 and 5.0 quite a few times here in Geraldton and these sails are super good. The best Ezzy sails I've used.

The ezzy wave 2023 is the best Ezzy so far. I use the 4.0 when others sail 4.5 en when its windy and my friends sail 3.7 i still use the 4.0.
Perfect range.

Increased stability, less twitchy. It's only on the sails 4.0m and under I think.

Had a light wind session two days ago so i tried out the 4.7.
It was very light and gusty and dead on onshore so conditions were crap.
I must say that my first impression was that the sail is very light in the hands.
Gybes much easier than the 2020 model.
And slogging is much easier with the new sail.

I'm coming from Goya Banzai and Duotone Supehero when i changed to Ezzy wave 2020.
I'll say that the new Ezzy Wave 2023 sits right in between Banzai and Superhero in feel.

Just wondering, people must have gotten out of their honeymoon period with them. Any observations, anything more to add to the reviews above? Currently sailing on Goya Banzai and Eclipse 2022 (incl. Goya 80% RDM masts). Have sailed some sessions on the 5.8 Zeta and I was quite chuffed with the softer delivery (although the Zeta is a powerhouse). I am playing with the idea of replacing my Goyas with Ezzy Wave 2023..... Any thoughts?

I have been on both for quite some time-first Ezzy Panthers, Elites and so on, than Goya- Banzais ,Fringes Gurus. It is a tough decision-my bias is towards Goya. Banzais and Fringes. The Fringes rock! Especially in smaller sizes. 2020/ 2021 is the pinnacle edition. After that they made them lighter, but more twitchy and unstable imho. Now I am on Simmer-black tips, also amazing sails.

I'm still in the honeymoon with mine.

Cheers guys! After doing some digging around I think I will pull the plug. Should I get the Ezzy mast as well or should the Goya RDM be fine?

Ezzy wave rdms are 91 % carbon-thick walls. Goya rdm are lighter and thinner. Which does not mean they are more fragile. I am talking about the 20/21 rdms. Hell of a mast! No problems whatsoever. No breakage, no bending of ferrules. Made in Italy. Especially the 70%, 85% for wave sailing. Not a fan for 100% carbon for wave sailing-unless you are Brawzinho... Plus Goya has 310 lengths which is a bliss. They have also a peel ply section that prevents boom slipping down on a flat landing.. 2022/2023 are produced in China.... I do not know about them, not really interested. When it comes to carbon items I will trust mainly made in USA or made in Italy. But this is only my weird opinion.


PS Just heard that J Polakow is on Goya/Quatro!!? Next step maybe Francisco Goya on JP/Neil Pryde..

At Ezzy they said that the Goya mast / Ezzy sail combination should work. Still, as the mast is the backbone of the whole rig I've decided to get the Ezzy mast (91%) as well. Should be receiving my new sail (and mast) today.

Can't wait to get some decent wind to try it out.

After receiving the sail and mast I got to have the maiden voyage with it on the following day (Saturday). Most my mates were on 5.8 and 6.0, but hey I had a new shiny sail to try out! I set the sail a tad under medium (you've got to love the Ezzy trim indicators) and outhaul between medium/low. The sail is really efficient in this trim, I never really felt the need for a bigger sail.

I was surprised how well it worked, power delivery smooth, sail feels softer than my previous Goya sails (but not too much) and as direct as the Goya's. Sail never went really off during transitions or moves, which is hardly noticeable and I expect this to get better with a less baggy trim.

Only first time out with this sail, lots to discover. Overall impressed, now I've got some homework to do and see if I can/will change the quiver to Ezzy Waves. Again thanks for the input!
