The board is long and narrow, 135l, weights 15kg and can only get it to plane at 20+knots, so these days I rather plug my rig into the Start board and practice gybing.

3 months ago, I almost purchased Exocet Nano 155, paid a deposit, but the but the store run out of stock.

I'm still thinking of this board. Anyone has a first hand experience with it?

those old bombora's were a great slalom board with- negative rocker the problem was the rails would catch in the jibe

the board has water, theres no way a 135lt board can weigh 15kg's
besides a 6/0 is to small for 135 lts get a bigger sail

Possible, however, it's nearly 3m long with a white PVC surface and more than 15 years old. It was always heavy.

It would probably work better, but I now have a reasonably new rig and was thinking of matching the board to the rig.

I'm not sure if Nano 155 is a good choice, so I posted this query hoping some readers have used it and can tell me any good/bad experience.

your lucky you didnt get the nano obelix , it would have been way to big next season, my opinion is,boards havent change to much in the last 6 years ,what i would do is have a look on buy & sell , heres a board thats fast and easy to jibe and comes with a bag and fin, make sure you weigh any secondhand
a board, that size should weigh a touch over 7kgs if you sailed a board at that price for a season and sold it for $350 youve had $330 worth of fun,

All great advice. It would be fantastic to to be able to jump on the 116l board and fly away, however...

I'm 100kg and can only manage water start at Crawley every now and again when the wind is over 20 knts.
I'm only learning to gybe on the start board. Learning how to hook the harness and not to get catapulted just about every time, not yet into straps....

As you see, a long way to go.
A 115l board sounds way too ambitius.

I'm not sure what exactly I do need though.

G'day Obelix, Not sure about nano or what conditions you sail in, I am your weight and learnt on a starboard carve 151L 2003ish model which I bought new. The only windsurfing experience I had prior was longboards. Still use it heaps, great light-medium wind board. For a 150l it can go like the clappers and is easy to gybe, becomes a bit of a wrestle in 20-25+ wind and choppy conditions, flat water is OK though.
I don't think I'll ever get rid of it.

You could probably get away with a slightly smaller board though. I reckon 130 - 140. There are some good deals on superseded models around- Starboard futura, Exocet Scross, JP excite to name a few.

I sail on a flat water (Swan river).
Keef provided a good advice and would be just right for me me maybe by the end of the next summer, but in the meantime I'll need to compromise and spend another season on the river and that means putting up with the winds between 15-18 knots mostly.

What sail do you rig up onto your Carve 151 ?

My main sail is a loft 7.4 O2. I use up to 10 -25k- just rig it pretty flat, the windier it gets.

I have a Nano 155 which I've had for about 3mths, and I'm loving it. However, I only started windsurfing at the start of the year, and my first board was a 130L "Mistral Explosion" which I could barely ride. So I'm just happy to have somethiing I can stand up on.

I'm 90kg +/- and I can uphaul an 8.0m easily on it. Can waterstart on a 6.0 in decent wind. Had it planing quite a bit, but not into the straps yet, I'm sure thats just me though. I cant plane gybe either so I couldnt tell you about that stuff either.

Not sure if it's what a proficient boarder would want, but I'm sure I'll be getting plenty out of it for a few years.

This is exactly the info I was hoping to get. Not necessarily wanting to hear it's a great board, just some experience from other people using it, and even better, your history has some similarities to mine so I can relate to it.

If you don't mind a few more questions ?

What's the minimum wind that would get that board you planning on 6m sail?
What's the maximum wind you would use the 8m sail on?

Happy to answer any questions, but my lack of experience and wind judgement might affect the accuracy.

Not exactly sure at what point the planning starts, but I think it would have to be in the high teens for the 6. Only had one great "fast" day on the 6.0 and it was +20kt's. I do still use it the most, because I'm really tring to get the technique down pat first.

On wednesday, it was around 12-15kt's, I had my 7.0m on, but felt I could have handled the 8.0, but it was 400k's away:(, I was still having fun though. So I'd say about 15kt's max, although I've only really used it under 10.

My cousin is also learning on it, and he's 14 and 50kg's dripping wet, so its a great begginer to intermediate board in my opinion.

Hi Obelisk, A friend just bought a Nano 130 l and it is about 2 kg heavier than
a S/Cross of the same volume. Also he does not go any faster on it than his old board. Weight is very important.
