i guess it becomes important as to how long they keep their booms.. i don't reckon very long at all when compared to the rest of us.

hmm, i doubt the pwa guys use a particular boom because it does or doesn't break. they would use a boom which is the stiffest.

in my experience pros don't really care to much about breakage up until they break everything.

i looked into the wide tail thingo, you will find that most wide tail booms are mono. it's the narrow tail ones where the joints occur,

monocoque is usually wide tail and is stiffer.

typically that is.

Maybe but you wont win a slalom race if your boom breaks

In windsurfing, as in life generally, you get what you pay for.
Trying to strech the length out that litle too much can also be dangerous....
145 - 205 is pushing a friendship.
We've had very little problems with the one piece alloy booms that we sell, especially considering how light & stiff they are ( aeron/mauisails/pro-limit/severne)

There really is no substitute for a good quality ( not necessarily the most expensive)
carbon boom.
As a retailer, the 2 carbon booms that I have most confidence in are Chinook & MauiSails. I personally think that the MauiSails boom is the best one around to date.
Most of the pros think so too.

Bit of Uk. input if you don't mind i do a lot of slalom and speed sailing,
In the space of 3 months i have totally bent in halve an Aeron boom (High speed sand bank crash),snapped 2 north booms bent a Neil Pryde Hybrid boom both sides and snapped a full seamless carbon boom straight in halve to me they are all crap if put under full extremes so its luck of the draw.
Seems to me that they are not made to last anymore just like cars.......
