(3160*1.15+545*1.1) usd in aud = $3935. Exchange rate may vary, but <$4k for a race sail quiver seems ok... thou no doubt, if you are a serious racer you are also up for a full set of masts.

Either way being a bit of an engineering geek, these sails just seem cool!, I'm more interested in how they built them!... I would have thought duplicating the north 3DL technology would be really expensive, especially considering that they are only a small brand! But now I'm wondering how they got the shape into the body if it is indeed a single continuous panel? or isn't it? hard to tell from the photos.

i'm pretty sure the gst and duty is payed on the delivery cost as well as the purchase price. plus you have to pay customs fees on top of that which are around $70 from memory.

the fake invoice works but it's a risk if somehting goes wrong as your insurance will only cover the amount invoiced so you could loose thousands.

Swoosh, Add 10% GST and 5% Duty, GST is on the freight component as well.

Carbon masts are duty free when imported into Australia......you still have to pay GST and landing cost.

Not sure why but they are on the list of exceptions I was surprised to find out when I last imported some masts.

Do you think we need to buy the Avanti mast to work with this sail?
Thanks,
Dani

Like most sail manufacturers they will always advise to use thier masts
for best performance.

I contacted Avanti asking for the specs (curve's) on thier masts but they are reluctant to publish thier R and D numbers in line with other top racing brands. Fair enough!
If Dan Kessler was ex Gaastra then maybe he will stick to to what he used last time around if so didnt they uses C/Curve hard top ??
Shame though the technology, pricing and country of origin look good and I am sure they would do well if people knew what the specs were and had another alternative mast choice to buy.

It would be good if you could buy the avanti masts direct from CST and save on freight (both ways). CST could be the Australian agent...

Avanti are in discussion with CST re supplying mast's direct to Australian customers. No decision has been made yet.

Was fortunate enough to have a go on Pete's 8.5 today in a light 15 knot sea-breeze on the river, the overall impression of the sail was dominated by a feeling of weightlessness. The stability of the sail in the very gusty conditions was incredible, unfortunately the session was cut short with small hiccup.... Build quality of the sails is first class!
The Fanatic prototypes with Sebastian W. at hand felt really nice!!

Apparently the small hiccup was due to a lightweight protoype mast from last year and production mast's will be up to spec.
Geez! how light would that have been the specs on the production mast are pretty light anyway from memory.

I have just been advised that a WA shop will be stocking Avanti sails. They will be taking orders soon. Avanti sails appear to be a quality product but i was concered with how the after sale service would go as they were factory direct. problem solved now!!

I thought Bender just got a new quiver of Reflexes and Overdrives. The Avanti does look bullet proof compared to most others on the market though.

interesting colour coordination... Courtesy pwaworldtour.com

Unfortunately it doesn't look as if the weather gods are going to be nice to all the people who put in the effort to organize and attend southern Italy's first PWA event. So everyone will have to wait to see how the Avanti sails work in the heat of battle. Nice big wind shadow behind Mt etna.

This would support the other rumour that *B are retiring the wood option and only offering the iSonics in a carbon option - hence I suppose DarrylG's tidbit.

I'd like to get them out on the water over the weekend as I'm going over to Europe next week..

The 6.9 is rigged on the 430 Avanti mast YoYo.

Cheers.
