6 knots plus is good enough for me.

A goodbye to Scully? Why not - any excuse for a beer

Have you scared up any speed gear yet Scully? Stick to freestyle I say. Freestyle all over the Pit. he he. They love it down there.

So, I'm not really up to speed on Windwanderers.
A socil club, I'm guessing ??
Is there a sub or membership required ?
I'm thinking about making the effort to come up and meet people on Saturday.
If there is wind, I'll probably be there.
What time are you thinking about ?

Hi Ken,

Wanderers is a social club, we meet avery 5 weeks or so and usually wait for a good forecast to hit the water.

we sail different ,ocations from north kirra up to lake cootharaba hence the name wind wanderers. usually i try and pick the best location for the wind.

all members need a mebership. any awa affiliated club membership will do. wanderers memberships are

$40 for social members
$45 competitive members (allows you to race or compete with any club in australia)
$50 passionate members. (include competitive insurance)

$105 familly social membership
$120 familly competitive membership.

the membership includes 12month 24hr cover all over australia insurance

normally meets officially start around 12-1pm.

Hi Swoosh, yeah, a few of us are keen also. if the forecast completely dies (ie. red arrows) then we'll push it back but at this stage if it's around 10-15 knots it's on.

Yet another new board swoosh?

Missed the snags yet again, left early doors this morning. Went straight to Queens beach which for a few hours this morning; was awesome, 100ltrs and a 5.4 a huge smile and a few nice ramps thrown in for good measure. That was until 1 0'clock and then nothing..... headed to sandgate around 3ish for a look, pretty windy there but to far for a lazy pom like me to drag my gear.

yep.

got to sail it today, it does indeed sail as sweet as it looks. can't pick which is better at this stage, the skate or the joker.

when i upgraded to the joker from the jp fsw it was like a light switch, the joker was so much better in every way, there was no reason i would ever want to sail the FSW again. however with the skate and the joker, they are both awesome, just in a different way. I think the skate probably carves better then the joker? either way had no problems laying down consistent gybes today. Also the skate definately feels bigger then the joker, thou its only 1L difference in specs. the joker is easier to sail upwind, the skate you kinda have to force it a bit more, I think they both have similar upwind ability, its just a bit harder to get the skate upwind because the straps are very inboard. Also, the joker has double screws for all footstraps which is awesome. So far as I can tell, the skate only has single screws... and they twist quite annoyingly. Might have to take them off and see if there is a 2 screw option.

didn't jump it much, my boge joint has a crack in it, will replace it before tomorrow.

Hi Guys,

cheers for joining in. was a wierd day. wind gauge read 2 knots at one point.

still we hit the water on the freestyle gear.

even though the wind was, well, nowhere, the bbq and hanging out is always great. swoosh's new board was very nice also.

i got a photo of scully with his seabreeze prize.

funny thing with the wind. it was blowing when i arrived. i rigged and waited for a few others to show up. as everyone got there a storm came through and killed the wind.

and yes, i hate to say but as the last few were driving out of the carpark it kicked in again. dave was blasting around out the back! darren waited for it to die back a bit before heading out on his 9m again.

with winter approaching we'll start to look at places that work in westerlies etc. we also have the bribie meet on again in june.

looking to early may for the next meet.

cheers
JB

i took 3 photos at the meet.

v that's a nice sail in the photo.

Yeah, I looked at the chart, and it just switched off at 1pm. I figured some of the famous wind-vacuums had turned up.
