Not flatter than inside the bay at manly. But in the open it is a bit better for going fast as the chop is more swell like. If it is NE then it is quite flat in behind the bank, if the wind is too north for going down the bank then you can bare off on the other tack where you are running along the swell.
If jumping is what you are after the chop stands up perfectly just the wello side of the channel into aquatic paradise where there is a bank which you can touch bottom on at low tide.
The only downsides are manly is normally a bit more windy and also the fleet of kites after school time, but since they like posing for the cameras you just stay upwind of them
