Freerace update:
We still have 'May' scheduled as our last and final FR for the season, early this morning it was looking pretty positive for good wind on Sunday, bit sketchier now, bucket loads in Nth Qld that's for sure!

Stay tuned here and on Face Book, if we get good winds we will have our final FR at Lake Cootharaba on this Sunday 18th, possibly a bit earlier than normal to work in with the winter wind patterns, 11.00Am sign on.

We still have great prizes stashed away, from Flying objects, Black project, & Ezzy.

Later in winter after the Green Island event, we will announce a FR social for presentations, some photos and video's of the events throughout the season and announce the 2014/15 FR Plan, Schedule, with some new twists and events are on the cards.

Before the FR presentation we will also reach out to as many as possible for feedback and ideas to consider to make FR even bigger and better in 2014/2015.

Here's hoping the high hangs around.

Double Island Point as already been getting 20-25Knts this morning!

So true to the BOM forecast the further Nth from Brisbane you get with the current weather pattern the windier it gets!
Lake Cootharaba is not too far from DI and the DI observations are always 5knts +over 'real wind' so we are expecting a 'real' 15-22knt wind range on the Lake today, windiest around the mid part of the day. See you up there.

Final Freerace of the Season went off really well , with challenging 12-20knt winds, with the occasional hole of way less and the occasional gust of way more!
Water was surprisingly pleasant, not cold, Gravel bank not so pleasant!

Dave Sando's on his Isonic, Avanti C3 combo and Rob Humphries Pryde/Isonic had a close tussle at the top, whilst Kellie Tusler hanging on to the very girly Pink Hot Sails 7.3 was not so girly flying along on her Lorch board!!

A great session by all, special thanks again to the Lake Cootharaba Sailing Club for loaning us their IRB, (which was used!)

Also Duncan Sayers for being our Skipper, Russel for being our Man on the ground, and everyone for making the effort to sail today, we said we'd get wind and we did! With the exception of the Burrum Weekend we managed to get an event in every month we said we would, plus and extra@!

Over winter we will be conducting post mortem reviews, collating feedback, and working at a plan to take FR to the next level in 2014/2015.
But for some of us our next focus is on doing FR at Green Island Next Month, and finding a Boom Sponsor!

Final results postings and video replay will done shortly, Special thanks to our Sponsors and in random order, without them we couldn't get such an event off the ground, and as a result the competitors have shared literally in THOUSANDS of dollars of prizes, all awarded by chance not race position!

Board Crazy - Principle Financial Sponsor
Surf Sail Australia - Principle Financial Sponsor & Ezzy Kids Rig Sail
Sunshine Coast Sailboards - Principle Financial Sponsor

In the mean time here's a picture of the lucky Flying Objects prize winners, the prizes by pure luck really suited each of the recipients, first time many has seen a 'fin pod' and the 'Mereno' Harness, the FO stood out as really high quality gear, Dave has already loaded the fin pod!, The Harness is a really nice Fit for Pete...(great lumber support, really good looking harness) and Rob H will put the Nitro to good test.

What a great result for the end of your season and a fantastic result for windsurfing with such a great addition to the racing formats. Unfortunately I could only make one event but enjoyed it immensely. Congratulations to the organisers and volunteers for the successful season, Freerace has obviously struck a chord with the competitors and sponsors.

I seem to be specializing in them, 3 booms in 18 months, 2 in this year alone!
cost me 30 minutes of sailing over the 2 Freeraces, and some more $$$, I go through less gear wave sailing!

Great photos Duncan and thank you SO MUCH for your kind help with volunteering your time on Saturday. Was my second best result for the season, (bugger that I fell off though with only 15 min to go!, anyway don't think I would have caught Dave or Robbo anyway but may have improved my result slightly!)

The wonderful support from the Lake Cootharaba Sailing Club throughout the seasons has been greatly appreciated and although this is not the official thank you thread for the seasons still wanted to say THANKS NOW for all your kind support.
