Great that everyone enjoyed it, we will review it ourselves internally (as we always do) to see what we can do better etc.
One thing that was certain is that water way is changing state all the time based on tides etc, let alone all the other activity! For sure there would be more 'ideal' times to sail based on the tides/winds etc, totally different water conditions to when it was test sailed a few weeks ago!
Our main goal is to ensure we get a windy event, and I think we cleaned up there pretty well, It's a pretty challenging spot, the results show that also, mostly sub 20 hours.
Great thing about the location is it is close for the Brissy guys to get to and heaps of parking, got to say was warmer in the water than out!
FR means we all had the same conditions, strategy certainly comes into play also, the upwind run was less tide effected and longer runs off the wind, so selecting the best position certainly helps, but there is part of the skills required to do well , reading the wind on the course.
FR shows that its "
way more challenging trying to get +20knt hour than hit 30+knts on a dead flat speed run for a few seconds."
FR is to set your own goals etc, or try any beat your mates on the day, above all do your best and have fun, it's great that we have now some entries into the 30minute division, this encourages newbies and juniors to be involved.
It's also awesome that we have a gun champ like Brad A competing to set the benchmark ...if you want to come second just try and keep up with Brad for the hour and you will for sure!
Big Question is: Should we be back at the Gold Coast again next series?
