I had planned to, but I removed a good chunk of skin on my leg in a bike stack the other day ..... so I wast worried about a shark but more so an infection from all the other poo that would be floating around after the heavy rain.

ive met Andrew, and seen his board with the teeth marks. It is a serious mouth that fit around a board. The teeth marks are on both sides of the board.

How fast was he going when it happened? Planing?

I've heard of a guy attacked in WA, I think it was Gnarlrooo (whatever it's really called). If I remember correctly it was a Euro tourist, was planing but not top speed or anything, and it was a mako shark. If I still remember correctly it could get him through the sail after the initial attack.

I know that Jason in Gerroa wears something around his ankle to deter sharks, maybe you can ask him, some time ago that device was pretty big and had a sort of antenna, impractical for windsurfing, but now is as small as a gps

Ah ha! That's what I must have remembered..I thought asking the windsurfing community would be the fastest way to get an answer from someone who had tried something..

I have taken to towing an enormous inflatable killer whale behind my board and wearing a crocodile onesie to repel sharks. So far no shark attacks so this must be a truly awesome strategy
