Besides sailing for kilometres on super flat water in your boardies, you get to meet and hang out with great people with common interests, put faces to names, a well run fun event, lots of laughs and a little BS

What's the dates again

If speaking to my wife about Burrum, then it's an official sanctioned international world speedsailing championship and as a speedsailor it cannot be missed (even though we will have a one month old baby).

If speaking to a fellow windsurfer, it's a casual get together and great fun

PS Gaz - will try to get out this afternoon as it's fairly honking here. How are you placed?

No chance of a sail here.

Hoping to get out on Friday and Saturday, some backup then would be good.

Will be taking precautions this year at Burrum - Surf Shoes for the oyster bank I found last year and fishing rods when the wind goes crap!

Looking forward to it though!!!

When is it on? I'm so sick of work and have a few weeks of leave up my sleeve so I wouldn't mind getting away to somewhere new. Is there a caravan park there to camp in that is not far from the water?

Also wouldn't mind spending some money in Queensland to help out.

The Burrum Heads Beachfront Caravan Park.

Excellent camping and well run. Best to drive to rigging area.
....18th till 20th March ....I think.

How much is it a night at the motel?

Also is there an Internet cafe or something like that there? I have both 3 3G and Optus 3G USB modems. Does anyone know if either brands work in Burrum Heads? I doubt 3 would as it doesn't seem to work anywhere outside of Sydney or Melbourne but perhaps Optus does.

I'd prefer to stay somewhere where I can walk from where I'm staying to to river and carrying my kit with me. So the motel is the best place?

The Beachside caravan park looks okay too.

Edit: Just checked. $70 a night at the motel which seems quite reasonable.

For the gadget guys, I've used both Optus 3G and Telstra 3G in Burrum Heads. Both work ok, but Telstra works better, and closer to the water. For Optus, I had to move back from the shore for the best reception.

We'll be at Burrum Sands this year. See everyone there!

Cheers,

Dylan.

The event is run by Windwanderers and I'm pretty sure you can join Windwanderers at sign up time of the event and have coverage. Gestalt is the man to ask, (or correct me if I'm wrong).
