John Cuaycong (jp747) sent these to me to try out last year. I have given them a huge workout and they have passed with flying colours. They are not 100% water proof. If you swim a lot they will get a few drops of water inside but for so called waterproof GPS they are pretty close to ideal for me. This is the one specifically made to size for the Navi GT-11/GT31. I can wear it on my forearm just below the elbow so I can see it as I sail or up on the bicep by adjusting the Velcro straps. Easy to adjust and when it is just right it can be slipped off the arm and slipped on for the next session without adjusting. I a few big crashes I have had it slip down my arm but it usually stops at my wrist. Even if it comes off it floats well.

I've been using one for about a year, and have had no problems at all with it. In that time I've seen many other brands break their band, pop the plastic, split at the seams... and mine is still going strong (touch wood!)

Highly recommended.

WRT the little nylon washer over the thumbstick. I used a LEGGO tyre- perfect fit and being a nice black rubber with a knobbly tread pattern looks way more professional.

How do I get hold of one?

I've gone through two Aquapacks...the plastic isn't very strong and punctures easily. I've resorted to putting my GPS in a ziplok lunch bag, but it makes it hard to read!!

My Aquapack got ripped right off may arm in a crash last session . Luckily it floated.
I am going to stick a piece of foam in it encase it happens again.

If there are any spares, I'll take one. I'm onto my third Aquapac... the seams just lets go... last seam failure let too much water into the pack, submerging the GT11 (aka time for a new GT11).

If anyone has problems with their Aquapacs and still have their receipts then take them to the importers.

Genuine Aquapacs have a 3 year global warrantee, I have been into the one over here a few times and you are in and out of there in 5 mins no hassles.

Looks like it could be a bit of a smorgasbord of GPS casings down at SP this weekend (assuming Daffy can get some of those nifty H2OTEK's over here in time).

Boy am I glad I posted the need for one back on the Speed Fortnight thread - Melbourne's pretty much Aquapac-less right now in the NAVi-sized type, and the situation was seeming a bit bleak, but now even better ones have leapt out of the woodwork!

Love the simplicity and bullet-proofness of Kato's ones (pity about the lack of access to the joystick, but hey it's not all that often I touch it before the end of the session once I've fired it up and put it on Speed Genie). Only other major issue I can see with it is if it broke loose and clocked you in the head during a crash. Might leave a bit of a divot that one.... hmmm.

And I'd also be keen to take one of the H2OTEK's for a spin.

Can't wait to check 'em out in person.

Actually haven't used it all that much, 'cos I've got this nasty GPS addiction goin on , but got out last season at the G'loo and had a couple of sessions in 25-30K at the Abrolhos. She's a sweet ride.

I got a custom made 'cos I'm a plus-sized sailor (110Kg) and there wasn't much round in production waveboards for larger guys. It's around 105L and it's got enough float (and width) to get me out there in 18K. Love it.

A while back the forum was discussing how to carry various GPS.
Lyn and I have been using a bag called Paqua Mobile. We bought them at Whitworths for about $30.
Certainly they are waterproof. At first they were a bit floppy but we have worked out an easy mod which involves lengthening the loop that carries one side of the locking catch. Just use a bit of neoprene and make the loop about 25 mm longer. Any sewing machine will do this. This mod allows the other end of the bag to fit around the mast making the whole attatchment much more secure and the contents easily viewed while sailing.
As good as the GT-31 is it does not allow the user many options while on the water. On the other hand the Garmin displays such helpful data as Max speed, Current Speed and Distance traversed.
I use a Garmin strapped to mast and carry the GT-31 on my arm in a bag that Lyn made but, unfortunately, does not allow the instrument to be viewed.
Recently I noticed on the Paqua site that they are releasing another model called the Paqua Midi which may be ideal to wear on the arm.
I hope to get hold of one of these and test it.

Seems like a good unit but the arch of the fold over seal sits quite proud of the arm. Certainly cheaper than aquapac.

i accept any critique and thanks for that sailquick..for your info the pack has been widened a few mm's for the gt32 and the rolled part by 1/3rd longer to get a tighter roll as per specs of decrepit and i believe bender..too bad i could have sent one more to you for testing at the speed fortnight but was away for a few weeks..regards

JP i am very happy with mine. It's water tight and is way more comfortable than any others i have used. Pity its blue and yellow (west Coast Eagles colours)

Hi bender good to hear thatI ran out of colored material during that time but will make it pink and blue next if you want for the changing times As i told sailquick really intended as a gps carrier since they are water resistant anyways but if it becomes a bit water tight then the better

hi nebs it would be nice but i will be away 3wks of the month till maybe 6mos-1yr. and 1 wk. in my hometown..the place i was in has internet connection but a bit too slow still and there's that ever persistent problem with elastic band size..what i've noticed if you put a lot of female velcro every say 3cm the whole band gets a bit tight but will think of something that's why it has to be more or less custom in a way..yes mineral1 i got patterns for it

Used the paqua midi today for the first time. Worked well. Navi is a snug fit and survived a couple of trips over the handlebars.

I've sourced an Aussie model which we'll be flogging through the Seabreeze shop if you're keen - details soon ... Have written to Johno for availability of his model too... :-)
