G'day

Got a weird question here. I've been getting faster ever since I got myself a GT-31 and started focusing on speed. But I've found that above about 25kts my front foot starts slipping out of the straps in flat water.

Any tips for front strap technique?
Tighter or looser (deeper foot)
Forward or back (on the board)
Inboard or out (I've set mine at the rail)

And does mast base position or boom hight have any impact?

Cheers
Berowne.

try dropping the boom a little.

Which board are you using? (iSonics are famous for light front foot pressure)

Are you using a weed fin?

am no speed expert but I use snug front footstraps maybe your backfoot is bent too much and hiking out backwards forcing your front foot slipping out? The great Dunkie curls up his toes upwards on the front to keep the board in control and don't let it slip away

I can typically be seen sailing a JP Xcite Ride 104L.

Sails are either
8.0 3 cam Gun Booster on a 44cm fin
6.8 on 32cm fin
5.5 TR4 on the 32cm fin.

Can't remember which sails are worst for the problem.
I'll try a lower boom and see if that helps.

I think maybe your strap is too loose. You should not shove your foot too far in.
Try a tighter strap...only takes a few secs to adjust.

Well I didn't suffer any slippage on my last 2 outings, so thanks for the tips.

I did move the front strap back, which seems to have helped as well as the other tips, such as reducing boom hight. Although I did have it way to low at one point and that just felt weird. And the second outing was only brief as I seemed to have snapped my fin off while doing about 25+ knots!!! Ouch.
