Thedoor, something I also thought of.If you're looking for more speed and better upwind/downwind on slalom or foil (when you take that step), an adjustable outhaul is absolutely worth it.

I got one with the IQ, and they showed me how to set it up and how to set the boom out a couple settings beyond recommended to give me about 4-6cm of adjustment

It makes a *big* difference to just tweak outhaul by just a cm or two sometimes. When it lightens up, I can drop outhaul by just a small bit and I can feel the difference in pull and ability to plane. I'm also starting to notice and agree with the typical "more outhaul for upwind and less for downwind" advice I hear so often.

It's way faster than adjusting the boom on the water or going to shore, and you start getting more of an intuition for the sail feel in various conditions. I've only explored it a little bit but it's obvious to me how boom height and outhaul tension can make or break a day for speed, early planing, etc.

And always measure boom height, mast track distance, and get a good fin, or two, for that board.
You want the board to unwet until you almost fly, but not quite.
On the verge is fastest.

I had the sailworks adjustable outhaul but gave up on it as rigging was a real pain. Which one do you have?

It's a real simple one to rig. You just need the pulleys on the clue for the sail and you loop the gray line over the clew pulleys on both sides and that's it. Not hard. Makes a big difference. Honestly I don't know the brand.
