The GW60 doesn't have voice capability, but it does have a buzzer, the trouble is my old ears don't hear the buzzer on the water, but if you have young ears you may hear it.
But I've no idea if the buzzer sounds each time you get a faster run.

Mike I went for my first sail in over two weeks and also my watch wouldn't turn on I was thinking it had gone flat but when I got home and plugged it into the clip charger it came alive and had full bars of charge. Caught me out also first time due to lack of wind also, so I have ordered a spare clip cable I will keep it in the van if it happens again to me or anyone I am sailing with this is bound to happen when there is no wind for weeks on end.

If you're using the GW-60 on your wrists and you 2 second speeds are more than a couple of knots faster than your 5x10, make sure do have a closer look at your traces - especially if you spent any amount of time swimming. There have been a couple of cases where analysis with ka72.com or GPS Action Replay Pro had given artificially high 2 second speeds due to spikes. This appears to be more common with the watch since it's more likely to be submerged after crashes. It may be quite common in "wet" session - I found one when specifically looking for it after examining just 15 files. Can you read gps-gps from GW-60 on android?

the GW60 can be used as a standard USB interface, if you can read thumb drives, you should be able to download your gps data. But I don't know if anybody has done it.

As decrepit says, you should be able to download the files in the mode: "UMS: USB Mass Storage for non-Windows platform user."

After you have downloaded them, you can probably open and analyse them in the GPS-Results version built into the Android App. GPS-Logit.

Have seen some good alphas but they are made up of spikes mid turn which give great readings.
Spikes are not big enough to be deleted by software but corrupt the alpha result.
I guess it's due to the wrist moving so much during gybes.

That was always a worry with a watch, on the wrist. But I've just tried an extension band so I can wear it higher up. With it just above my elbow, the alpha results were pristine. BUT I also found that just above the elbow is not a good spot, as the "gps" button gets pushed when you bend your arm.
And operating buttons allows the watch to breath, underwater that's not good!!!!!
High on the forearm could be a good idea, I'm going to try that next.

I wear mine on my upper forearm. I reverse the screen and have the GPS facing upwards. The GPS has good satellite vision in both underhand and overhand positions. I get good results compared to my GW52. I can also see the watch screen when sailing. I adjust the position of the watch position in relation to my upper arm to stop inadvertent operation of the buttons.

Photo of me wearing the watch on my upper forearm. I've flipped the screen on the watc, so that the GPS chip is above the screen, so that it always points towards the sky, irrespective of an overhand or underhand grip.

Yes, John I think you've hit on the best scenario. That's also where Daffy says he will wear his, as back in the old days his garmin gave good results there.

Mark at Surfsail Australia says my locosys strap extender will be in early July. I may have another try with the bay one using a lanyard.

Also Roger says, over tightening the strap can adversely affect the waterproofing.

Today tried John's way of wearing the watch on my forearm. I'm now sure this is the best option. The watch is easier to see while sailing, the buttons aren't inadvertently activated and the accuracy is really good.

The watch has extra alphas because min speed is set to 0kts whereas the GW52 is about 3kts

Some of the watch 2s accuracy numbers aren't as good as the GW52, I'll check if there is an under hand, overhand pattern to this. Hmm, well that's interesting only two overhand grips and they are both +/- 0.5 the highest of the ten.

Your both right.
-When the Auto Sleep is "Off", the watch stay on all the time.
-When the Auto Sleep is "On", then the watch goes in sleep mode after a period of time and then after 10 days is turned off completely and can only be turned on by reconnecting to power.

This is normally due to a bad watch connection. Try cleaning the tabs with a clean dry cloth.

But also make sure the watch is in "com" mode, but it should be there by default unless you've changed it for Mac connection.

I've bought a "DeoxIT" contact cleaning kit from Jaycar, only used it once last time I had a bad connection, and it did the job.
I was looking for a small rubber contact cleaner but they didn't have them. I think you need to be very careful about using chemicals on the watch.

Mate, I had the same problem and wasted about four hour's of my life that I won't get back.
It was a com port error, which was a problem with finding the right driver.
One that I installed was the problem.
I uninstalled it and it worked.
I have also found that switching USB port's made a difference once. Have no idea why.
I've just wiped my computer clean and about to do it all over again.

Just did it all again. You have to make sure you've installed the driver that's in the folder,
the proper updater, and remember that after you've updated the firmware - you have to go back again and change the connection setting to COM. It changes itself back to UMS. I had no problem with the driver after installing the one supplied, but as I said above - previously I had to uninstall a Driver that was causing the Com port error.

That's very strange I've never seen that, the default is COM not UMS.
Unless you're loading a CFG file that is set to UMS?
