Looks like the speed event is done and dusted, lack of wind has put paid to Chris's further advancement up the ladder

Fantastic result looking at the who's who up in front (and behind)

Very nicley put by AMAC. No hint of bitterness, in fact a hint of humility.

It is good to see that there is still a place for couragous people in the world,

Amac has posted a message on his KAsail site about Chris' departure.

Apparantly they had some new KAs in the pipline but they were not finshed in time for Karpathos.

see here.. http://www.kasail.com/windsurfing/news/Chris_departs.html

So, what was wrong with the old ones??

Chris had a pretty specific brief for what he wanted. Rather than screw with the Koncept, which is widely loved, the decision was made to extend the KaRace(Formula sail) range right down to a 5.4 as a full blown Pro Level Race Slalom sail.
8 Battens ,4 or 5 cams, full wide luff sleeve and higher luff curves and foil tension.

This is a much larger development job than altering an existing sail and Andrew just didn't get it finished to his satisfaction in time for Chris. Simple as that.

Martin, I understand you may or may not know and may not be able to say but do you think Chris really will be back on KA as per AMacs statement? How long is his NP contract for?

Yep you are correct, I don't know, have absolutely know idea.

As to the second part of the question Andrew has made it perfectly clear that he thoroughly enjoys working with Chris and would love for the relationship to continue in some form. All I can say is that we will be working really hard to develop the Race range into a super competitive sail. If we get that right Chris will have no choice but to come back!!!

Windsurfjournal: What equipment do you have sailed during the seven rounds?

Finian Maynard: I have always used the same quiver during the week, my Neilpryde RS: Racing 7.0 m² and a prototype RRD speed of 54 cm, even when it was very windy.

interesting, Chris said he used a 7.8 in the last rounds and he must be 25 kg less than Finian

1 carton a week for next 5 years should size you up nicely so you can ride those bigger boards.
