Wonderful View!

i'am going back to yarra bay/ frenchmans bay in northeastly's great protential for fast runs i've sail their on speedboards in the early 90's even better now hardly anyone sails their now plus no bloodly jetskis only problem launching from frenchmans bay abit holey or yarra bay sailing club small grass area plus locals

OK Guys, this is what I have got so far as 'Established and Frequented' potential record speed venues in Australia. The intention is to make a list for the WGPSSRC where record attempts would not need to be pre-announced because they have an established track record of high performance and it is highly likely that there will be a number of speed sailors there on any given potential record breaking day.

If your pet spot is missing it is probably because I have made a judgment that they don't fit into the aforementioned criteria. If you think otherwise please convince me.

If I have got the names wrong or listed the same place under two different names please inform me.

Yeah, I considered that but thought if you are going down there it is quite a trip and you would know the day before so it would be easy to pre-announce it. Also, it is not that 'frequented'. :-) Still open to it though.....

Since the WGPSSRC is for a single ten-second run, let's rate this list on how good these spots are. I can only comment on places I've been, obviously. Feel free to disagree.

Sandy Point 10/10. Nothing else comes close. If it were a batsman it would be Don Bradman. Virtually perfect.

Hardies Run 7/10. Long, consistent and the best in WA. Some versatility in wind direction. Plenty of hazards.

Pt Walter 5/10. Horrible, rocky, gusty ** of a place but occasionally produces the goods.

Melville Beach 6/10. Better than Pt Walter but weedy of late. Sailable in winter wind directions unlike most others.

Woodmans Point 5/10. Aquamarine waters make it a nice place to sail but the strip is too short for speed and generally clogged with kiters. Not going to break any records here.

Fair comment Chris, but there are other categories being considered for WGPSSRC records. There is also a 'Record Ranking' and it is quite possible sailors at venues other than Sandy Point could get quite respectable rankings.
I suspect a Norwegian or Swedish record might well be on the cards at one of the WA venues as well.
