This whole thread is making me cold. Those sweet, bath warm sea breezes are only 90 odd days away

Less than 60 days for Brisbane

Hi All,

We make a Neo Beanie that uses high stretch neoprene that has a soft lining and they are designed to fit tight over the head and ears. These have been pretty popular with some of the Tassie crew and they are a pretty cheap option (RRP $29.00).

Cheers,
Marco

I'm going to try one of these. Last time i got out of the water and put a beanie on, i was tempted to wear it when i went back out, so this fits the bill nicely. Not sure that I'd be comfortable in a full hood anyway.

PS.. can you direct me to where to buy? I've just been redirected through 3 websites through auswind and retailers to find nothing under their search.

I have a beanie-style (Neil Pryde) and a hood (Rip Curl) that connects/tucks-in to the wetsuit.

Sometimes the beanie blows off or you lose it in a crash.

Hi Mort67,

I have sent you a couple of options via e-mail, I hope this will help you out for local Tassie supply.

Thank you very much

Hi Mathew,

When I designed our Neo Beanie I aimed for a pretty tight fit so as to minimise the beanie slipping off. I spent quite a bit of time on the SUP and Windsurfing and taking as many waves on the head as I could without adjusting the beanie. I went about ten waves / duck dives before it had slipped enough to fall off, it certainly will not blow off.

We use a pretty light weight and stretchy neoprene so the beanie remains comfortable but will also float if it does fall off. One thing I did not want was a string dangling from the back that connected to the wetsuit, so it needed to be a good fit.

Cheers,
Marco

Was a chin strap ever an option?

That would be a big NO!!!!

My view was if I'm going to wear something like this than I will try to make it a little less obvious. I SUP a lot before work (Perth can get chilli first thing) or I sail in winter fronts, so I wanted it to be functional but still look OK!

Cheers,
Marco

I sail with a neoprene beanie when it is really cold. I don't think it has ever come off on its own, and I fall in plenty! It does keep your head a lot warmer.

If on the other hand you do want to stand out.
You could go for ION's version.
