Must say I have to agree with the post above, just buy a really good winter style suit, and wear wetsuit shoes if you have to, I know that the lake water is colder than the ocean but a good winter suit just does the job and does it well.
These wind sheeter tops just flap about and its just another layer etc where as a good wetsuit is there to do its job.

After being out for several hours and eating lunch I wore the wind jacket yesterday and a hood. Worked a treat - toasty warm.
The wet suit works well. I'm usually too hot for the first hr or so.
Usually I deliberately let water into the suit early in the session to cool me down..

I thought mine was the warmest you could get..
I'll look at one of these when mine dies..I knew mine had the smooth areas but I didn't realise the arms etc weren't covered.
It's a pain in the bum being a woman and buying a wetsuit..There are generally none to try so you just have to go online and buy and hope it fits.. I usually get one that's extra big/ roomy too so that probably affects it's warmth..
I usually sail shallow water in winter and don't get wet. It's only this year that I'm sailing deep water and I've had issues.

Settle down..I finally get it..

Xcel dryloc 4.5x5.5mm with 5mm dryloc boots and 3mm dryloc gloves with palm cutout so forearms don't die.
so warm and comfortable. I sail in it until the sea freezes over
