Cripes.. I had a similar experience but the break was nowhere as bad. I was lucky as I'd washed off some speed and hit bottom gybing.
Was it a Colles fracture caused by putting your hand out in front of you and it taking the impact? The hand being on the bottom and stopping you?
Have you been able to get back to sailing?
What was the pain like ?
I had a similar walk in. If I supported my wrist as I walked it was ok. Cripes seeing that must have freaked you out!
It took me 2 years to be able to sail again . I broke both bones but the wrist wasn't hanging off like that.
To be clear : I am not the protagonist of this clip

But I met him some years after and was still going strong . and F A S T !

Now that would have been a long hard recovery.. Good on him. I was wishing I could understand the language.
I'm always amazed by the difference in reaction between the victim and his colleagues, who immediately realise the seriousness of the injury.
The first guy (with the camera) immediately starts searching for his phone to contact emergency services.
The second guy ( by min. 2:00) even has to cover his eyes for a moment upon seeing what happened.
In the mean time , the victim keeps saying " this seems dislocated , doesn't it ? , " surely, this must be dislocated." and even persuades the second guy to " give it a good pull.."

Adrenaline for sure.
