There's no denying, these booms are mega bucks and will probably only be used by pros or (wealthy) must have the latest & greatest types (no offence intended to the wealthy few out there). I heard the twist lock pulley will be sold separate for around 60 euros, so even the parts sound expensive. I guess the best way to look at this boom is, they are hand made by two french guys on their premises and not mass produced in China, and that personal touch/quality comes at a price. I guess they will last a long time too. I love seeing new stuff coming out, especially if it has a few new good ideas included. But for me personally, these booms are way out of my price range, I can only dream!!! I bought three brand new hand made AL360's in 2010 for around ?600 each (about 1000 aus dollars). Still going strong, every now and then I have to replace the boom clips and mast clamp handle, but I expect them to outlast me. I'll leave them in my Will to my son!!!

Andrew, It depends what you buy. Just looking at the Duotone Range. The RRP for their booms is as follows:
- Duotone Black (Alu) from $400
- Duotone Silver (Alu) from $480
- Duotone EPX Carbon from $1220
- Duotone Platinum from $1700
- Duotone Platinum Aero from $2600

There are a number of the the Platinum Aeros in SE Qld. I have an EPX

Wow!

But original question remains. Who has actually paid $2000+ for a boom? Or even $1700 for that matter!

I think we all know that RRP is pretty meaningless these days.......

$3000 because it would attract freight and customs duty on top of that.

Nobody has paid that much for a Duotone either.........

So while this pully is a great innovation and superior to the above fitting what would be better is if more sail companies put their hand in their pocket and did the same
A power house market leading sail maker like Australia's Severne could do it for just a few dollars per sail

They got back to me, 60 euros for the Twist lock outhaul pulley, sold out the first batch and currently out of stock.

We couldn't compete with Alloy Booms let alone Carbon
10-15 years ago when I looked at it the materials were very expensive & hard to get.

I would love to make quality carbon booms but I could never compete with the main brands.
I have repaired a lot of carbon booms & it a very time consuming material to work with.
Good products cost a lot to make, simple as that, volume can help but only so much.
Large factories can tool up & make similar products for different brands with slight changes, this keeps the price down & volume up.
Hand made booms like Lisa or AL360 are top quality & will always be expensive & not for everyone.
Lisa Booms could be cheaper if manufactured elsewhere but you can lose control of quality if you are not on top of things, especially in Asia.

Not at all, it's a matter of whether a company can justify the cost for the expected return or demand, simple business decision.

Is it any better than a loop & go or only required on race sails with AOH?
I use a Severne slalom boom (no AOH) & the loop & go, how much time could I save?

On another note, 3D printing is good for proto-types but would you really pay 60 Euro for it?

I have contacted Nico over at LISA, and ordering a bunch of twist lock pulleys could get the shipping price down a bit.
Shipping for 10 pulleys would be 40AU$ so 4 bucks per pulley.
Pulleys are 93AU$
Anyone else in WA interested in getting one of those? I am definitely keen to get one.

The Electron rocket (Rocket Labs' Rutherford engine) is a 3d-printed engine - that is very high stress and extreme temperature environment

Just like manual-labour, 3D printing can be good or bad.
