Positively stay away from the formula board ,( i have one ) as best i can describe they are absolutely horrible . They are hard to get planing for us big guys ,handle like a beanbag , are extremly fragile , u need the big fin (which is about half a mile long , so forget step starting ) and are scary gybing in chop.
I would suggest the Starboard Go 161 ( great board i have one ) Does everything easy and goes fast.

I found a JP super light wind 90 board in Brissie, got my Dad to pick it up today so will collect it when I am up there mid November.

Hi all,

Well in 4 months I finally managed to get out on the SLW. 15-20 for half an hour on an old 8.5 north pyro. Though have been swimming on my old drops free ride twice.

After a few runs I managed to get over the foot strap humps & got into the straps, didn't feel to comfortable. I put this down to that I had the mast track just about all the way forward, once I moved this back 3/4 of the way I felt a lot better, thought it could be that I was just getting used to the board.

Waterstarting was different & up hauling was fine, never really attempted a gybe.

The session ended when I noticed a broken cam, not sure when it happened, though I suspect early on.

Wasnt too happy with the Rig so have an 8.6 Overdrive on the way to replace the 8.5 & got a 7.8 & 9.5 OD as well, I also decided to take a step back & get a 141 go so I can relearn what I used to do with the 8.6 & 7.8.

Very happy with the SLW, looking forward to trying the 9.5 OD out on it with a formula fin I have.
