Ok everyone,
It's time to get some sort of storage system sorted in the garage for windsurfing kit, SUP and surfboards.
My system at the moment is not really working to well and can take some time to extract the boat when needed!!
I'm sure there is some good set ups out there in garages/sheds, so just looking for some ideas.

My solution would be to sell the boat, buy more gear and a board rack..

In that chaos it I bet it'd be very easy to forget something small, like a mast base or fin

a very basic solution would be to hang everything from the roof using rope and some ring hooks.

A bit of pine, some brackets, and something to screw it to the wall.

I use.. Vertical racks for the Surfboards (under Nine foot), Horizontal racks for the plus Nine footers and the Sup's, Racks for the sails and Masts. Hanging racks (from the ceiling) to take care of Old gear that you just can't through away and have room for the Trailer Sailor !!
Get it sorted
Makes life a lot easier

Build a trailer, just sold mine but and got a commy wagon. Unfortunately ATM its occupying the shelf more than its packed for sailing. The latest addition has been the vertical hangers with another wave board on the way.

No, no! Tinnies make awesome gear trailers for extended trips away. Plus they can get you and your gear to places you'd where you'd otherwise have to carry your gear for miles. Only problem is if there's no wind and you want to use the tinnie, you still have to find somewhere to leave all your gear.

Thanks man, I got it ;-) Yes it's super practical and takes seconds to select gear and load up. More time at the beach!

Thanks guys, some good set ups out there, appreciate all the input!
I'm thinking something like gmittons that hangs from the roof above the boat (cause the boat aint going just yet P.C

) will work the best.
So I guess its time to extract the digit, start sketching and dust off the welder!!
Will chuck up some pics when it finally gets done (sometime between now and who knows when).

Get a van!

Nothing gets forgotten. No time or energy wasted packing kit. Kit for all conditions is packed ready to go, in one spot.

Put a tow ball on a van, for your tinnie.

Take your van to work and quietly disappear at 2 pm, direct to your local spot.

I have tried all the above but for simplicity I reckon you can't beat a big bit of timber bolted to the wall, with holes drilled with a 1" spade bit on an angle, then sections of broomstick glued in. Least amount of joinery / screws / time etc.

Or - orange ramset plugs into wall, screw in big cuphooks (with like coach screw threads) and run two ropes across the whole garage, then lay everything just above head height

Come on guys and gals!!!

I acknowledge the fantastic efforts so far but need some more inspiration!

Looking for a free-standing setup like IKW's to build in the off-season.

Currently using some saw-horses with padding on them. Doing the trick for now but pretty primitive in my books...

Similar to you Mark but I wrecked a couple of old sails and used the carbon tube battens and put the white fibreglass rod in as a stiffener and it works really well It's even strong enough to hold an old long race board (16kg) on one level

as far as the boat goes - it should go
put it outside with a cover !!
windsurf storage does not need to be beautiful - just efficient

this works for me - usually JP SLW is one layer lower - on top of DaKine board bag
on top of the winter tires which are now mandatory here
booms and wetsuits hang beside
a little bit of movement required to get stuff, but NOT bad
the more stuff one has - the more important the efficiency of the setup !!!

broom handles or poles work for boards, but NOT sails !!

Lucky if you have the space for proper storage. Inner city living leaves me with this.

I think if you mounted that JP FSW above your bed with some black foam covered hooks it would make an attractive piece of art and add a fun and decorative touch to your minimalist decor.

Standing them up makes it easy when they are wet after a sail. I built this rack in the garage for the sails then realised if I left space toward the wall they could stand up. Below is the sail storage and then the 3rd pic is the area for the SUP and long boards. We can still get a car and trailer in garage with all this.

Hi Tony,
From one Gustbuster to another......here's an off season project for you......I built mine last week, drops straight onto my 7 x 4 box trailer and leaves room for all the camping gear underneath. Holds four boards, sails, masts and gas burner to make hot tea!

Recipe:
6 sheets of 12mm structural ply
4L kit Bote Cote epoxy
1L Northane Shipshape primer
Top Coat colour to suit - or leave in primer as per photos.
Mix thoroughly and hey presto!!

Here's the broom handle version, added some of the storage hooks underneath to take the sails and masts. Booms can go behind or just stack one on each of the boards.

I think we may have passed today at Primbee? I was walking out as you (may have been) heading back in. We passed a few polite cursory words as I quickly realised that I was a few hours late for the best of today's wind...

Even though Mrs Polony works at Bunnings (which gives me a decent discount) and the fact that I have a 7x4' galvanised trailer sitting idle most days than not, I'm not sure if ready for the "full monty" yet. Might have to sleep on this one matey.

Very tempted though

Hey Tony,
I didn't make it down today, so unless you were in Thirroul or Whytes Gully tip ( getting rid of garden rubbish) we probs didn't pass! That wind really whistled up!

I built the 'Pod' as my son and I are planning a trip to Lancelin in Jan for the Classic - we're in testing mode now - and so far it's all good! I'll see you out there next time- either at Primbee, SP or wollumboula. Are you all healed up now?
