Needed to send a board from Perth to Sydney, so, got a few quotes and thought I'd share them with anyone contemplating the same.
First was E-go, around $100... You get what you pay for.
Second was Pack and send, $327.00... Getting fairly expensive.
Lastly "Toll", $1194.00... I think I just soiled myself. No discount for depot to depot.
Just one more for luck, Transdirect. $610.00, Right..
Hope this narrows down the choices.

I have sent and received boards using E-go and never had a problem. It helps to ensure the boards are packaged appropriately and attach multiple ' fragile top load only' notices.

transdirect will give you bonus speed holes in your new board.

And when you suggest you didn't want those speed holes, they'll tell you the board was meant to be packed in a crate, not wrapped and boxed the way they come out of the factory.

Maybe they just have a spear throwing contest in their depot every Friday

I got brisbane to adelaide for board 230long for around 150 ,no insurance. no holes,with toll..
300 may be close for distance.

If you google freight reviews you will never send the package..haha

Are they for real? For that price you can buy an airline ticket... fly to Sydney... go have a drink in the city... fly home and still have cash to spare.Not even Qantas air freight is that expensive... just tried their quotation engine and it told me $345.

^^^ Took all the specifications directly from the con note from the last delivery, as per e-go. Dead weight, cubic weight etc. So there were no different specifications. Damn near shat myself.

Always a gamble with any Courier - That said I have mainly used E-go without damage issues.
With e-go I try to send Depot to Depot, my thinking on this is the less its handled the less chance for damage. Not always an option when sending to a more remote town though.

Whom ever you send with, packing is the key and the best garantee you can have. Use as much as you think you need to be able to through it of a first floor balcony without damge resulting, then double. The carboard box should not be considered as packaging, its only a big envelope it doesn't offer any protection.

Last board I sent off was through E-go. And whist it wasn't spear throwing night like Transdirect seem to have, it must have been "Let's ram that large box into the floor day". End result, badly busted nose on a once sweet late model Kode. Careless pr!cks

Sadly, I think posting boards will always be a gamble.

I used Richard Wikaire The Kayak Courier M: 0414 889 499. Absolutely fantastic. Packs the board transports himself in an enclosed truck and enclosed trailer. Door to door.
Also got a quote from Surfreight. Same deal as Richard packs the board & transports himself. Only does the East Coast.
Both quotes were same as e-go and cheaper that the others. I could sleep at night not worrying about how many pieces my board would turn up in.

I booked a sail to be transported by e-go last Saturday, very easy to book and reasonable price. Was booked for pickup on the Monday but item sat at my front door for three days so I sent off enquiry emails only to have them returned to sender . No contact numbers anywhere on the e-go site so I googled the parent company and found it was operated by Hunter Express who I called and confirmed my con note number to which the gentleman said he would get back to me , which of course never happened but 6 hours later I did get a message from my wife that package was collected and hopefully arrives at it's destination. I did think while this was happening that I had done my dough and would have to find another option. Hunter Express # 02 97804099.

I send delicate things for work all over the place and whilst I do feel sorry for your holed board I would never send a fragile item packed only in cardboard and bubble wrap. I suggest buying a few sheets of 3mm luan play jig sawing the plan shape out and some strips for the rails adding plenty of extra packing material at the nose and rails and gaffe tape it to oblivion on to the outside of the carton, that way far less chance of a puncture.

Not sure who Ocean Addicts in Qld use, but they ship a lot of boards door to door nation wide for free. I had a 12'6" SUP shipped to Vic. My wife watched in horror as the delivery driver dragged the packedged board down an 80m driveway, was quick thinking enough to video. Amazingly the packaging was good enough to prevent any damage.

E-Go option of depot to depot is a good option as it cuts out the pick up and delivery handlers and a lot cheaper. I have used them a couple of times no problems.

^^ a/a I am finding Smartsend with pickup and delivery cheaper than e-go depot-to-depot.

Bsn101 coming from melb or maybe Sydney area at end of the month. Can bring some kit back to Perth. May be test ridden along the way. Camping gear for sale before I leave east coast to make room. Help me onto early retirement.

I've had boards shipped from Perth to Sydney on four separate occasions. Always arrived safe and not too expensive (<$100, but that was a few years ago). Each time from 2nd wind sailboards, but I forget who they used. Maybe they'd be happy to point you in the right direction if you give them a call?
