I got exactly the same sail from 2016. It works great when it's quite loose, so you definitely want more downhaul. I would not want to rig that without a winch, not sure I could.

I have no problem downhauling our freestyle sails by hand. Even when rigged loose, freestyle sails require a lot less downhaul force, so don't take the Taty video as an example for you rigging your sail
