That strap is only Nylon and you can't see the wear underneath the joint.

The rope on the tendons works. A few years back was sailing an offshore break when a mates tendon blew up. We sailed 7-8km downwind in 3.5-4.0 weather with rope holding everything together. First time I'd seen the safety rope really pushed, sold me.
FYI I buy a new complete uni at the start of every season. Cheap peace of mind when wave sailing.

Chinook doesn't mention the type, but it looks like dyneema rope. So should be stronger than the nylon strap.

Snapped the dried out safety strap like it was paper when the boge got ripped out while ducking a wave.

yes it is (formuline), soo much better than the previous black and blue one they were using ! (my rope snapped simultanously with the tendon)

Cant see how it can wear out washer on top and bottom

^^ Exactly. I guess it depends on how it is set up....

^Ive had a strap wear or rot thru on the bottom side. Where the strap bulges down. Was an oldie though.
