Nah, apparently that was a marketing stunt. Still don't get it. Wrong type of confusion you want for your brand but some people consider any news good news. The brand is still going, they lost me though.

Weird choice. She's just come off World Championship and moves to no name brand ? Unless *Board didn't want to cut a deal or Weone made a silly offer. After all the years supporting her to finally get to the top, you'd think *board would be pi---ed but who knows.

Jacopo Testa did the same thing last year ( or maybe the year before). Weone must have come to the table with $; or perhaps Blanca was just getting tired of constantly repairing poorly built boards.

Wonder if Blanca will stay with Severne sails or do something else since she is leaving Starboard.

PWA Clarifies Phantom Foiling Suspension

The Professional Windsurfers Association (PWA) wishes to clarify the facts surrounding the Phantom Foiling suspension from PWA membership. While a full explanation was already shared directly with PWA member brands on July 10th, we find it necessary to publicly reiterate key points to avoid confusion.

BackgroundPhantom Foiling has accumulated significant outstanding membership-related fees across the 2023, 2024, and 2025 seasons. These include unpaid membership, equipment registration fees (boards, sails, and foils), and result-based fees. Despite repeated outreach and the offer of multiple flexible payment plans, Phantom declined to reach an acceptable agreement.

Contrary to their public statement, this was not a voluntary withdrawal from the tour. Due to the continued use of PWA's competitive platform and media materials despite non-payment, the PWA was left with no choice but to suspend Phantom's membership in order to uphold the principles of fairness and responsibility to the rest of the membership.

Pretty weak stance and response from Phantom IMO (their public statement is on Insta). Guess its the beginning of the end and I wish them all the best.

What are Pierre Mortefon and Nico Goyard going to use then? I am assuming that suspension means they cannot use Phantom gear.

Pierre is using NP sails for near future. Phantom released a statement saying they have suspended PWA membership.

yes for Tenerife/slalomX, but remains to be seen for slalom foil for which he will also need board(s) and foil(s). (note that in their coms NP was keen to point that they're not "sponsoring" him.)

tough situation for Pierre, but no doubt he will get sorted out. nonetheless the whole episode reflects badly on the industry. hopefully not the canary in the coalmine.

Sadly the reality is windfoiling is declining and sales are down. The winkers (wingfoiling) have taken their market but even sales there have started to flatline. Slalom X in strong winds is now the most popular PWA discipline. Windfoiling works in lighter wind locations yet a few of the top pros have given up on it.

The PWA would do well to follow the example of the IWT wave tour and do the same for Slalom X. Have a sub group of X events in windy locations where there is a greater chance of getting high winds. PWA Fuerte event was exciting and great viewing, leave the windfoiling to the Olympics where it's best suited and getting lots of participation.

As does the number of one and done locations in the last four years. I'm not saying anyone is doing something wrong - it's just a really tough, tough business. The fickle nature of wind makes it hard to cultivate live viewership despite the great drone work and Ben's announcing.
