I am totally in the camp that professes " Find out what works for you"
I find that the short booms, light weight, durability, great low end and instant on off of the free style sails works best for me riding ocean swell at about 90 degrees to the wind. The down side is they do not twist off as well in high winds so my smallest sail is a 3.0 revo
I just got a 3.8 Cypher and have been experimenting with rigging and like with most sail the minimum designed down haul with maximum designed outhaul seems like the best starting point
Oh I was told by the goya sail maker that the construction on freestyle sail is as strong as their wave sail just the window material is lighter and that he actually likes using the Cypher in the waves in certain conditions
Here is me on a 4.4m and 750cm2 foil in very light conditions, so nothing too aggressive
