for freeriding you don't need a foil specific sail.
although in light conditions, where sail sizes of 6 m2 and up are nesecary, i like foil specific sails for more efficient pumping.

I like Gator 6 m 5. Short boom 188 cm. Feels like handling a 5 m to me on foil and fin but with extra power.

I had a Gator 6.5 a few years ago. Great sail until I put my head through it. Been on an NCX since then but think I will probably go back to the Gator.

I am totally in the camp that professes " Find out what works for you"

I find that the short booms, light weight, durability, great low end and instant on off of the free style sails works best for me riding ocean swell at about 90 degrees to the wind. The down side is they do not twist off as well in high winds so my smallest sail is a 3.0 revo

I just got a 3.8 Cypher and have been experimenting with rigging and like with most sail the minimum designed down haul with maximum designed outhaul seems like the best starting point

Oh I was told by the goya sail maker that the construction on freestyle sail is as strong as their wave sail just the window material is lighter and that he actually likes using the Cypher in the waves in certain conditions

Here is me on a 4.4m and 750cm2 foil in very light conditions, so nothing too aggressive

I'm also from the use what you like school. I started my WWF journey on cross over and power wave sails (Severne Gator, Duotone Supersession, Naish Force 5). They worked well. I moved to the North Wave Clear a year ago and they have been a game changer for me. I have a windsurfing wave sailing background so I am used to a loose leach when overpowered.

I have mates who use freestyle sails (foil freeks, cyphers, etc) and they swear by them. They usually use one sail size smaller for the same conditions.

Are you using the tracks or foil box?
What foil are you using with it?
Any tips, tricks on making it work well?

I'm not using tracks..only for winging. Foil box is perfect. I'm using sabfoil mast(105 and115) fuselage 900. Front wings: medusa pro 769 with 430 stab(shim1). G800 slingshot with 430 stab(shim2). Board need pop to take off. Top board for wave riding! 360 etc.
