As a some time visitor to the super bank I find it amusing to watch the angry pack behind the rocks taking it so serious
Then you drift down to the back of Greenmount and its a bit smaller and theres a pack of LBers with a lot of laughing, smiles, s--- stirring going on.
I must be getting old because to me now its about whats going to put the biggest smile on the dial
Now having said that I am in the west at the moment and if the wind swings a bit today I am hoping to be out there on a 6 4 !
Wow this thread just keeps on going.
I will just add this which is from an article from this very website SEABREEZE
"It?s no secret that planet?s surf breaks are over-crowded and teeming with short boarders, long boarders, body boarders, tow-surfers, kayakers, and bodysurfing marine mammals. Why add an enormous surfboard and a six-foot paddle to the biomass?
Unless your name is Laird or Keaulana, there is no good reason why you should paddle out on your stand-up surfboard at a crowded name break - or any spot, for that matter, which is an established conventional surfing break.
Along every coastline in the world, no matter how jam-packed, there are countless overlooked breaks where there is little or no history of use as a traditional surf break.
The whole point of SUP surfing is to get away from overcrowded breaks and head off into fresh pastures. The fattest offshore reef, the tiniest beach break, the mushiest point - each becomes a J-Bay or Sunset or Superbank on a properly designed SUB.
So find a wave that no one else wants and paddle out with a few friends, and not only will you rediscover the original stoke of surfing, but you?ll be doing your part to ensure that stand-up paddle surfers and conventional board surfers enjoy a peaceful coexistence."
Interesting / funny thread!
I think most of the sup 'complaining' in this forum comes from guys that surf Perth metro beaches. Not the best waves for any board, But definitely not a sup wave. So when you get a sup out on Perths busiest beach in 3ft close outs it becomes more dangerous than fun.
No one wants 10' of fibreglass barreling towards a packed lineup.
No ones complaining about sups at Mets or other LB/SUP waves
Just let us have our ****ty 30meter close out rides in peace
Ps just to note I love a good longboarding session when the waves suit, no hating here
Lacey has a valid point here,I think some of you need to get over short V long V sup.
What started as a little banter turned ugly for me.
Lacey is right 100%,Lacey has been riding sb for longer than most of you are of age, sorry Lacey
Lacey for those who don't know has spent more time in the R&D room than anyone I've ever known,so some respect is warranted here please.
My take is ride what suites the conditions and your ability.I'm not going to rave on about my history of surfing. But I see shortboarders pumping jumping up and down to make a section or get more speed in small waves,if they rode a bigger board even a longboard they could still do cutties hacks floaters on a 9 foot high performance longboard.I'm not against shortboarding if I was 3 ks lighter I would still be riding one,my son rips and is a sticker boy.
Mate I can poke in here anytime but I'm not,I'm just giving you shortboarders another option for when to surf is not suited for a shortboard, yes I know I don't belong in here with narrow minded people![]()
Some like both, some don't but just to clarify Lacey and Mac's theme.
Converted to sex![]()
If you like SEX than that is good
. But if you only like girls, (short boards) you don't want to GAY guys (666 riders) or BY(long boarders) guys standing around saying just cause there's no girls out tonight you should still have sex just do it with a GUY..And if you don't do it for the sake of doing it (as there are no girls out/no good quality waves for shortboarders) you're closed minded or a pussy or not with ZEN![]()
Honestly stop talking crap and stay out of the busy line up that is already dangerous[}:)]
