Has anybody ever owned a ripcurl dawn patrol 3/2 or 4/3 before do how do they hold up through the winter months? The e-bomb pro looks better but pricey...Will be mainly surfing in perth during winter for an idea of water temp.

I've got the ebomb pro plus 3/2 sealed chest zip. It is ridiculous. My advise would be if you do not want to spend the money on the e bomb do not try it on or you will be spending.

The dawn patrols are great, the e bombs are stupidly good.

I have a rip curl not sure which model any more. Great wet suits.

Being from a colder climate I've always spent the coin for the best suit I can manage if you look after it they last for ages. The difference between a good suit and a great suit is unmeasurable.

subasurf you must be made of sterner stuff and have balls of steel (or none!)than I or thousands of other perthies

a good steamer in winter, cant beat it, even in perth

sealed wetties are the go

mine is 3/2 billabong 302 revolution
(pick em up in chuck em out sales at end of season when they "redesign the sticker and sell it as an ALL NEW DESIGN for the next winter, sava da muneeeee)

I reckon the 3/2 e bomb (what I have had for the last 2 suits) it the most comfortablest suit out there. However for me, they dont last any longer than a season and a half.

Anyone else have this problem?

ive read in a few places tha the e bomb is the best suit performance wise but doesnt last long enough (tears easily, fragile, glue comes unstuck) ..thats my hang up with splashing the extra wonga...i guess the dawn patrol has the same neoprene and probably the same issues..
Any views on the Psycho 2 - e bombs competition i suppose....

Has anyone got the Patagonia wetsuit? I heard its got sheeps wool in it, not sure.

Mate and I are thinking about running cheap thermals under the wetty this winter, im running a 3/2 west suit, my second, not real happy with it (chaffing around the arms and neck comes undone) after a few seasons.

E bomb does sound the go though....

Are you WA blokes going for full long arm steamers or short arm...?

I tend to buy short arm and use a long arm rashie - figuring it's better for paddling... however, there are days where it's cold, so just considering options atm.

I've had a 2/2 Psycho II for a couple of years, and have only just grabbed myself a 3/2 E-bomb Pro last month. Both are full length steamers.

The PsychoII is a great wetsuit, but the Ebomb is better. In terms of comfort, you can't go past the chest zip, it really frees up your back, and the difference in freedom of movement is insane.

Also I lift heavy things, so find the Taped seams on the Psycho, while great for keeping water out, do restrict movement slightly for those with larger arms/legs/shoulders and sometimes catch on bodyhair. The neck is also less comfortable than the E-bomb, and thanks to the velcro eating trough the neoprene over time, cold flushes have become more common.

The only downside to the E-bomb would be that its a little harder to get out of, being a chest zip, plus i find it takes a little longer to dry than the PsychoII. The 'key pocket' on the Ebomb is a zipper, and in my experience all zippers eventually fail thanks to the salt, and one other thing is that since the E-bomb does such an amazing job of keeping water out and preventing flushes that you'll want to pee before you put your wettie on, unless you want to smell like a nightclub urinal for the rest of the day.

One thing I did like about the Psycho was the Rubber chest and lower back, its great for keeping the wind-chill out and on those days when the winter sun polks through, the warming sensation on your kidneys is great. Rip curl offer a similar feature in the F-Bomb, if you fancy splashing more cash.

Two great wetsuits, but the E-Bomb in my opinion is better.

Yep, went to Oneil after useing Ripcurl for years. I recon the Psyco 2 is the best suit Ive had since my old Ultimate Elasto Ripcurl from about 4 years ago.

Its so warm and no leakage at all. We will see how long it will last tho..

Had a few problems with eBombs seams cracking and peeling, replaced under warrenty but that means you dont have a wetty for two weeks. I guess they did replace them but jeez!

That's why the seams are now on the outside so that when people hang them up in the sun they don't crack anymore as they are on the inside. Unfortunately all wetsuits will spend more time inside out drying than being wet and worn. It was a good move I reckon.

awesome, good replies there...think i want to go for the e-bomb but have seen a super cheap dawn patrol 4/3. will keep an eye for a bargain e bomb tho. still, the dawn patrol is surely a decent option, 4/3 would be more than enough in perth...

The first eBomb was always rinsed in fresh cold water and hung up in the shade, the glued seams just cracked and peeled. The third one I had didnt crack but leaked like a siv

The pro does not have that black rubber on the seams. It is suposed to make it more stretchy. But it also makes it wear out way quicker. I have the pro but wouldnt get one again! Definately just the ebomb next time

Just got the 3/2 full length e-bomb pro+ from the states whilst over there on a work trip. Best thing i've bought in a long time! Even better was the price, it is the end of winter, and picked it up for $200! Spend the extra dough...

Isn't it crazy how much cheaper you can buy a wetsuit from overseas than here....... Whats the general concensus about doing that?

I've bought my last couple of suits from US and they are less than half the price than here. Last e-bomb I bought cost me $240 Aussie delivered to my door and it was in the shop for $580. Sure warranty can become an issue but at that price who cares.

I'm all into supporting the local business comunity and Australian businesses in general, but I cant help but feel that there is someone out there making a lot more money than they should/need to. (bet you its not the shop owner either!)

What over seas sites would be best for a good deal.
I like to support local but to be honest have not been very happy with all the varying reports i've got from local retailers. They all seem to like the ones they have only in stock.

Are there any good local shops you'd suggest. I havn't surfed in a wettie for 20 years. I always figured if it was that cold i would stay home, but getting back into it now.
