I agree but these days its owned by BB which leaves me a little concerned - I have been trying ween myself off it but have struggled to find a replacement thats as reliable.

I find the stick it stuff is very good - but it comes off and leaves a mess everywhere! I have even thought of making my own but have not yet got round to it has anyone had a crack before?

Yep i agree, palmers 5 daughters, was always the favourite but as ted said now owned by BB.

I've been using Far King, somoene told that the Far King wax is made by the people who used to own palmers, seems pretty similar. Pretty reasonably priced to, unlike the ridiculous price that Palmers is now

I used sticky bumps for a fair while and it was good 2.

And also Alex some are Chemical based, sex wax etc and some are natural, palmers etc.
If you put one over the other they just turn into a big mess.

I'm no wax connoisseur. I buy off a mob on ebay called Sanctum. Equates to $2.80 a block now (used to be under $2 a block) delivered to my door and I've had no issues with it.

I use Sticky Feet - but ended up with a tonne of Sex Wax as part of a Chrissy pressie.

I am currently using a hard/firm/soft layering of SW at the moment and it seems OK.

Having said that, I use a wax comb every second surf or so, so as long as the base coat is good I'm happy.

Mate of mine rubs beach sand into his wax - but he always wears a wettie...

the sand works a treat but looks like SH!T

Also like both of these, and now the water is starting to chill down palmers cold water rocks.

I tried this stuff in Hawaii called Sharkbait, the stuff was so hard it took me half an hour to wax up, by the time I was finished my arms were so stuffed I couldn't paddle out.

I just bought a new board and decided to put down deck pads for both feet. I always smash up my decks really quickly with my heavy feet so hopefully the pads will help.

These days I don't wax up much at all. I used to always wax boards but these days I find I just hit a board with a shell on the way down. Criss cross with with a shell. Get any old wax onto the bloody thing usually if the shell just isn't doing its thing anymore.

But if it's a good surf and you don't want to leave anything to chance... I like farking or sticky feet.

Im using sw hard wax as my base wax and stick it as my soft I fined it really good. But dad used the sw hard wax with the sw soft dream cream and he said it's just to sticky and when you are carrying the board to and from the beach the wax sticks to your arm and stays on it making your arm sticky as crap and not being able to get it Off for days which becomes extremely annoying...

I just ran out of the stick it wax might give the far-king wax a shot.

I haven't used wax for over a decade, except for on my mini-mal. It's such a waste of time and effort.

I have been using Ransom wax, super sticky and has been awesome in the coldwaters of France over the summer. I also use palmers when the shops sold out of Ransom

I have been using predominantly SW but want to try something more environmentally friendly. Palmers is good and sticky. Recently got a couple of yellowed old blocks local surfshop made ones with a longboard I bought. Going to try leaving it out in the sun and hopefully re use them!

Smell it? one of my mates used to pick it off and chew it like chewing gum. Can't remeber what wax it was but either way it was a freaking weird habit.

My mate stopped when we showed him the list of chemicals in that stuff, it's petro chemical based I think.

Edit...

Here is a summary... I ain't putting that in my mouth..
And then there's the wax. A typical surfboard wax recipe consists of about 70% Paraffin Wax which is one of the first by-products of crude oil. The next ingredient is Petroleum Jelly and then Microcrystalline Wax. Both are derivatives of crude oil. Then, depending on the brand, comes a mix of synthetic rubbers, glues and resins followed by some synthetic dyes and chemical scents. All of this is usually wrapped in plastic - another petroleum product.

If you want to make our own.
