Problem with front zips in the winter is when you get out of the water and your hands are so numb they dont work you are pretty much wearing a straight jacket.

True, but they are so much more relaxed across the shoulders. Paddling is a dream compared to back zip

Back zips or the batwing that RC call it, are great for getting in and out of but with the extra rubber that batwing has in it makes the shoulder area much stiffer/restrictive.
Front zip is hard to get in and out of (not as bad as I thought it was going to be) but is so free across the shoulder area I recon its worth an hour to an hour and a half in the water extra than a back zip. Im acually looking forward to it getting cold

My partners cuz is the Ripcurl rep for SA so he always gets me chest zips. I have an ebomb 3/2 chest zip the thing is so damn comfortable but if I am out solo on a winters day I have to sit in the car for a few minutes to warm up before I attempt to take it off!

I bought my first chest zip wetsuit, didnt think i was going to get out of it, must be a technique!
best fit ive ever had, with the legs actually going all the way to my ankles. might actually be able to stay warm this winter

Hey McHenry, can you ask your ripcurl rep friend why they dont have ripcurl LT sizes in australia but sell them in the USA and Europe. Is it just the sales are too small here?
Also the ebomb prices seem a lot less from US?

I will pass on the info but from a Sales Rep side of things he probably has no idea why. I know a heated debate on Swellnet forum was had about wetsuit prices in Aus and a lot of people have a lot of different views on things. I think the prices are justified but a lot of people dont agree with me.

When you look at a shop front and the overheads they have to pay you can understand why to a certain degree but if they all sold their wetties atc at a lower price they would sell more to cover the dicounted price. Six of one half a dozen of the other.
At the end of the day if you want service go to a shop if you want cheap buy from the internet but dont expect the shops to help when things go wrong

Couldnt agree more, support your local shop. Then you can see touch and feel, get an opinion and get help when you need it.

People need top realise that you need to pay for a bit of service and time.

But the shops have to meet the public half way I recon, otherwise people will go online. They can do it as I got a lastseason steamer(Oneill) for $370 RR was $540.
If that wettie was new and was $420 or even $450 I would have bought the latest version of it rather than go for the last years model at that price.

I understand but they will sell it at that price so make hay while you can then discount.

Retailers are doing it tough right now.

Yep it will get worse before it gets better as well, they need to embrace the net and make their retail shops smaller.

I think it comes down to the shop and its people. We have a shop in Adelaide that does really well, sell heaps of boards, wetties, hardware etc as they are all really good people, reputable shop and have built up the shop as a brand almost. People love going in for a chat. They cant compete with online prices but if things go wrong they go the extra mile, they support community events and do it right. Thats what shops need to do.
