^ you mean bargain up?

I thought barter was "I'll swap you my shoe for your potato"

That's hilarious.... You'd have the shopkeeper in hysterics! Nice...

Ever noticed most of the bogans behaving like twats aren't actually surfers?
Just bogany bogans?

And in honour of the original thread question, if your truly true about uncrowded waves then get a hundred bucks worth of flights north to a place called. I went there this year and there was 20 surfers on the whole island... At least 10 waves in moped ride distance... No beer though... Well I found some but it was hard...

It's actually really fun to see the confused look on their faces.
Personally it doesn't bother me paying an extra couple of bucks for something to someone who's monthly income is probably my hourly wage.
I'm sure there's some tight arses who'd disagree.
As for crowds. Unfortunately it's only going to get worse. Deal with it or don't go. Easy.

Surley it couldnt be as crowded as Bali ???

Either way I am going to be there for the first time Oct 15-25 . Will be riding my big red and blue malibu ..and will be happy to clear out a few spots for you :).... PM me if u wana catch up and/or share a guide .

Has anyone got recommendations on Accoms ??.. I have been looking into the Surfers Inn .. Looks a bit dodge but they all look a bit dodge over there ..

Hey to answer your original Q: Last 2 trips I've stayed at Surfers Inn and it is fine. No banquet for breaky just juice and an egg and a good 'ol Lombok coffee. Someone mentioned the Novotel which is where I'm staying this time as the family is travelling with me. It is WAY expensive and personally I would rather stay at the Surfers as you associate with way more sincere people. My 2c worth...

Or the many cheap n cheerful rooms at some of the " pubs/restaurants" bamboo walls floors stilts and a fan
N, mossie net about $17 night. Stayed at the indah kuta last year, basic infact not flash even but all the bungalows were in the process of being re furnished done up flashed up...prob finished by now.....pretty cheap decent breaky but eat all other meals elsewhere , jawa 1 and jawa 2 wicked

Or

Gerupuk has heaps of " home stay" available suggest SEAMONKEYS heaps of Norwegian/ northern euro ladies there last year!!!! so if surf is flat at least the scenery isn't

Novotel real flash exe by indo standards but when a backpacker in Perth is the same price!!!! F u c k it why not

Thanks for the Accoms tips chaps ... I think I will give the surfers inn a crack at least for a few days and then take it from there.

I have had mixed reports about taking boards to Lombok on jetstar .. Official line is max 6'2" incl boad bag ... But someone I spoke to said u can just rock up and they will check in a longer board ?? My shortest board is 7'2" cause I'm a fat bastard .. Anyone know what u can get away with on jetstar to and from Lombok ?? Or any tips on board hire in Lombok??

Personally I'd be very sceptical of that advice. Would be nothing worse than rocking up to the airport with your gear and being unable to check it in. I have experienced this first hand on an Indo domestic flight with a mate who couldn't check in his longboard.

I've heard that JetStar are pretty hard line with their regulations.

they "fit" the board into their baggage containers so if you on the smaller plane its 6'2 if you are on a bigger one the length goes up. have heard of blokes sawing the nose off at the airport and getting it fixed in bali!!!! Check with their oversize baggage policy and CHARGES!!!!

Must remember to take a hacksaw to the airport on my next trip.

Jetstar is a gamble. Planes are not yet running to Lombok from Perth I didn't think, when it starts I think they are a320 which says no bigger than 6'2". I've been through this a few times and have always been able to get my boards on the a320 with Jetstar but only on the indo operated services. Services operated by Aussie crew will not let them on. I have checked in boards at Perth airport to aussie crew that never measured the boards but the flight was staffed by indos, Biggest board I put on was a 6'6" in a triple bag.

U either take the chance or take a hacksaw blade in case and get it fixed in kuta. Good luck, I used to love Lombok.

I never fly Jetstar anymore. They don't like surfers, they run late and cancel flights with little warning.

I was going to go this December until I heard about the board size limit & the crowds these days. My 2 smallest boards are both 6'4...think I'll just head down to the Great Southern again instead

I have never flown jetstar ... Just couldn't resist the cheap direct flight .. Think I will have to hire a board there ..

From all reports Lombok is only going to get worse re crowds so I guess will have to make the most of it

I've always felt over the past few years that Bali (well, Kuta) brings out the worst in the visitors and locals alike.

More than the last few years subasurf, I remember being there in 1982 and a bus load of aussies on the pub crawl run were hanging out of the window shouting suck my c#*k , classy! Ah those were the days.
