Okay so back in the day the company i managed would provide the Jetski rescue for the event. Today in the commentary they were talking about the a year and the sharks in the final with Taj Barrows. They also mentioned the Jet ski's, and for us that was one of the funnier years we were involved and i have been trying to find some video footage or pictures of the skis from that year.

For those that saw the event may remember a large school of salmon getting smashed by some schooling sharks. The commentators of the day were screaming for the skis to assist but in those days any rescue meant instant disqualification and so a confused stand of proceeded with the skis getting told to help and TB waving them away. Anyway a huge set rolled in and the ski was now stuck inside and ended up rather vertical and as a result the life saver on the back fell of and was now swimming with all the schooling sharks and Salmon. Next wave caused an interference with Occy for which everyone ended up having a good old laugh about later, except the poor ski driver who felt a little silly, sadly not really his fault, but just one of those situations. Anyway I'm looking for some footage or picks if anyone has any idea. I know its not yesterday so not expecting quality but anything would be cool for a laugh..

Those days were pre kids and it was a real party time. My mate on the inside was so upset after the interaction. As he said TB was never going to want help, but the commentator and the entire hill was shouting at him to get in their. After the event Occy was patting him on the back speaking, "Its all cool mate, that was narley"
He was balling on the beach saying he felt stupid, but people were talking about it for days after. As is said they mentioned it yesterday in the commentary and it got me remembering..

That was a big year, earlier in the week the girls were having a cry about having to surf it that big..

The damage to skis over the week just ended up too much and when we couldn't recoup the $7000 loss we gave it in and the following year they used a inflatable boat
